I encouraged my students to learn to swear in foreign languages bc I legitimately think it's important and today the girls r just wandering around swearing in Chinese. The fun parts of my job are real fun

I know I can easily look it up, but I think that since internet culture is so international all recipes should include, at minimum, Celsius and Fahrenheit for oven temps

Doing research with an older Genx and they send you PDFs of a chapter (helpful) but each page is a separate, poorly scanned file
a judge is sitting at a desk writing on a piece of paper and says `` umm nice thanks for sharing . ''
Alt: Judge Judy is sitting at a desk writing on a piece of paper and opens a laptop saying `` umm nice thanks for sharing . '' then closing the laptop

Got myself this beautiful gift. Snuggling into some blankets with some red wine for a good read. Been a hot minute since I read this book but I remember tears.

I live in a family of people who (unasked) like to throw in random history/linguists/geography facts and for some reason we always comment on the anniversary of the Edmond Fitzgerald. Anyway this year is the 50th anniversary of its sinking.

50 years ago, the Edmund Fitzgerald, a 'rock star' ship, sank in Lake Superior
Twenty-nine sailors drowned when the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in the Great Lakes' icy waters on Nov. 10, 1975. The ship was immortalized in a surprise hit 1976 folk ballad by Gordon Lightfoot.

The longer we live abroad the bigger the news disconnect bw me and the fam. If only they got their news from uncovering riddles on Tumblr I guess maybe we'd have some common ground. At least we'll always have Star Trek.

On a flight yesterday they had the option to listen to the Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra covering a bunch of classic monster movie themes and I had time to listen to the album 1.25 times.

Doing a bit of travel for fun (not work!) and it's so nice. The "hotel" we're staying out turned out to be a beautiful big house which we have all to ourselves.

Me: oh is that the new Charlie and the chocolate factory movie?

Student watching 2005 trailer: no, the old one

Me: let me clarify. Is that the archaic classic ᚲᚨᚱᛁᛚᚨᛉ and Ye Olde Mille?

A French friend of mine couldn't think of the English word for trains coupling and, when looking at one of my toy trains, said "this is where it eh, goes with friends" and I never want to forget this

Thought I'd listen to something light while riding my bike to work instead sobbing at the In the Lives of Puppets audiobook 😭😭😭

A coworker misled me about the workload of something once, and another time implied trains are only the hobby of young boys, so he's my enemy now.

Audible gasps when I taught my students how to use Ctrl + shift + V because I kept watching them manually changing fonts/size/etc and felt bad for them. I wonder if they respect me more now
