I love making hats and scarves from donated media. All yarn and fabrics are from friends and families past project left overs to be turned into winter wear for Portlands Rose Haven women and children’s shelter.donations drops are done every two weeks. <3
Well, steering clear of cotton for shelter hats, don’t need anyone getting soaked outside.
But for the newborns, the ward loves 100% cotton. They’ve asked for not mercerized yarn. :)

I forgot to post the end result! About three to map out and stitch this together on my sewing machine. <3

I’m almost done with Parable of the Sower. I love her voice. She has so much to say for the struggles of being human and trying to be good while struggling through survival. Very good read!

Turns out this little machine is good for socks, not baby hat sizes. lol It was a nice try anyways. The knitting group there says anything soft will do fine. If you join the OHSU knitting group at the student center on Wednesdays, they’ll provide the yarn and also teach if you want.lovely people.:)

The only thing I would steer clear of right now is cotton yarn. It’s lovely soft, but the absorbency would make it so cold if it gets wet in the rain. Hope this helps a bit and thank you for chiming in!
