Really haven't been on here for a while. Funny to see names I remember through the old days of Twitter.

A gentle plug for the book, as I haven't mentioned it on here. Managing Decline - available from Waterstones, Hatchard's & Blackwells websites now. And Amazon when they get round to updating their systems 😏 share.google/N8mK6TMnmf37...

So there's this guy in my local. At least 75. Always immaculately dressed, suit and tie. I started chatting with him this evening about that, and discovered we have a lot of common ground in terms of reading. My new best mate!

Not sure I've been on here for more than half a year. How are things?

How far are we from a boycott American products movement?

Later this year, I hope to publish a book on Foreign Secretaries of the Twentieth Century, from Lansdowne to Robin Cook. These will be whole life profiles, but as a taster, I plan to post on Substack extracts covering just their time as Foreign Secretary. 1/2

Just done a Myers Briggs test (ok, I'm bored). Curious that while I'm in the same group as last time - 18 years ago - the scores are so much more emphatic in every measure.

Is that unusual? Have I changed? Am I just being more honest now? Or gaming the questions more?

In case anyone was unaware the BBC Sport app was reaching a largely domestic audience 😁

At least one nice thing for Assad: now he's living in Moscow, he has a fair chance of having his first white Christmas.

It is surely possible and not inconsistent to be at the same time pleased Assad is out, delighted at the setback to Russian and Iranian ambitions, yet fearful for the future prospects for the Syrian people.

Seems only yesterday that it was the wobbly French government that was our concern.

So many political posts I can't be bothered to reply to.

I've been out with a friend of 45 years' standing and had a great afternoon. If the bombs want to fall, it's not a bad time tbh.

Just setting up a linktree (in the bio now).
Can anyone please tell me how to link in my Bluesky account? Struggling on that one. Ta.

Grim day. But on the bright side...

Just been flicking through the apps. I've got a reasonable approximation of my old X on here. My main issue with X is practical rather than ideological: it keeps crashing on me.

Threads just has little activity. Disappointing.

Mastadon is somehow different. A bit edgy.

Post you from a different era.
Ooh. Like this trend. Gives me a chance to repost the Captain Scarlet years.

And then there's the problem of which apps are on my phone's home screen.

Finally cracked and set up an account. Now going through the tedious stage of finding people to follow.
