😍😊 So many stars! Thank you, kindly, Charlie! Might even motivate me to do another 😁

Yes, I think though that my characters are all braver than I am. But I guess that's part of the purpose of characters. Give them bravery to strive to accomplish things that seem too daunting to do in real life...

Naw, no Japanese culture steeping required; just a broadly applicable approach for teaching piano.😁 I didn't use Suzuki though, prob b/c my mom realized I can be a bit irreverent. For Kern, yes, such classics! At least they're all on Spotify; can all be easily found. I love that Spotify does that.

Yes... in a story... certainly not reflective of real life... 👀

But yeah, definitely works for the #hopepunk genre!

(And look, Charlie, I finally did my first #AwesomeCharacters post! Do I get a gold star or something? 🌟🤣💖🔥)

I completely agree with this... Do you ever intentionally give your characters problems that you want to figure out how to solve/fix in yourself or in real life? (I did this a lot with my first novel.)
February 13, 2026 at 5:26 AM
Yes, this has been 100% for me for my first novel! My three main characters are absolutely different aspects of myself (intentionally so). Helped me work through problems/challenges, for sure. 💖🔥

"Unfortunately"? 🤣
But it feels great to give our characters our problems and then help them solve them, right? At least, feels great to me... 💖
February 13, 2026 at 5:21 AM
Yeah, I 100% do this, intentionally. My main characters very much have key aspects of who I am and what I struggle with in life.

It was actually therapeutic giving my characters my problems and helping them solve/fix everything by the end of the book. Yay for free therapy?

Hey, this is what I did too! 🥂🤣😭😅
Totally gave mine my biggest problems and helped them solve/heal from it all. Felt great. Very therapeutic. 💖🔥
... Do you think it helped?

Damien: The most like me, I think. He's a quiet, unseen helper, as many helpers are. (Possibly he's acknowledged by the end, b/c #hopepunk). He's deeply ethical, & deeply conflicted about who & what he is.👀 (But possibly reaches self-acceptance💖) Greatest secret desire is just to heal people.

Lexi cont: Perky, positive, curious, & striving to connect with people & create a very diverse found family. 👀 (Hi, friendly folks of Bluesky!)

Athena: Overly ambitious. Energetic. Doing too much, too quickly. Over-compensating for regretful past failures.👀 But heart's in the right place.

Wow, Jerome Kern! Classic! Went & read his Wikipedia to learn more. So incredible.🔥 And love so many of the Mozart sonatas; I was mostly classically trained (& my mom was a Suzuki piano teacher). Which sonata?🎹
Glad even w/ the injuries you're coming back to piano! Wonderful you play at the home.💖😊

Came across him around the same time! But, ok, you have me beat by a few yrs; I graduated HS in 2001.😊When I was 9/10, I learned The Entertainer, but couldn't easily do the octaves. I can manage now, which is great.
Writing for media is a good, hard-earned steady job!🔥Looked up Arnalds- very nice.💖

こんばんわ!
Complete nonsequitor, but have you watched Frieren? Just searched your posts but didn't find a mention of it, so thought I'd ask. 😁
February 13, 2026 at 3:20 AM
Oooooo! Just placed it on hold from my local library! 😁 Thank you kindly for the recommendation! Looking forward to checking it out. 💖

My favorite too!
Spirited Away is a close second though. 💖
I visited the #Ghibli Museum in Tokyo years ago. It was amazing. So many of my favorite movies. Always get #hopepunk vibes from them.
さようなら!

💖 Thank you so much, IT DAWNED ON ME! ☺️ That's very nice to imagine. Beyond piano, I know Bluesky has encouraged many new authors to keep at it & keep improving too.💖

For the bread- hah!😁 Bluesky helps there too! I only started baking 2 yrs ago, so I've been very self conscious. Great support here.

Adorable song. Just went and listened to it on Spotify. How fun! Do you sing too?

But I get it. Tastes are subjective, of course.

And some people deal with sadness by exploring it, while others deal with it by masking it.
February 12, 2026 at 9:48 PM
Travesty abounds... No accounting for taste 🤣

But, yeah, I get enough travesty in my nonfict... Probably because I'm all too well aware of it is why I shield (so many shields!) myself with hopeful art.

Same reason I play happy, uplifting music.

Wow, I haven't seen any of those! Adding them to my list! Thank you!

Currently slowly making my way through A Man on the Inside, which has been very comforting in its way too.

Awesome! Good job! 👏🎉🙌😃
What are you practicing these days?
February 12, 2026 at 9:29 PM
Haha - it's possible I'm older than you 😁 What do you mostly play these days? Lo-fi? (Rather different than ragtime!) Thanks for stopping by!
