The holidays bring joy, food, family... and sometimes tense conversations.
But social science gives us tools to make those moments calmer and more productive!
Here are the 5 R’s that can actually help you talk across differences this season:

As prophesized, the potato bread was nearly lost to time, but then miraculously became reincarnated as pain perdu (French toast). The powdered sugar hides a multitude of sins. #breakfast #bread #baking

Update on my #ReverseNaNoWriMo efforts. (Yes, I'm making this up.) I wrote a #scifi novel but needed to get the word count down. Over 18 days, went from 122K to 116K (-5K!) by greening (line editing) the entire book. More to go but feels good. #writing #editing As I'm a scientist, obligatory graph.

Had fun at #Denver Zoo Lights tonight. Love this annual event. And not just because I wrote a #scifi novel about an alien zoo (seriously). @denverzoo.bsky.social #zoos #writingcommunity #writing

People with ADHD may have an underappreciated advantage: Hypercuriosity
ADHD is officially a disorder of deficits in attention, behavior and focus. But patients point out upsides, like curiosity. Research is now catching up.

4 years ago today, I got my offer of pub for CRIP UP THE KITCHEN. 3 years ago today, it went to the printer (1 year is an extremely rushed production cycle for a cookbook oof).

Today is the perfect day to buy it for yourself or the disabled people in your life!

Treating myself to some gluwein (spiced warm wine) at the Denver Christkindlmarket. Love this annual event. This is the opening weekend, so lots of time still to check it out if you're in the area! www.christkindlmarketdenver.com #festival #market #funtimes #colorado

Just an ordinary loaf of potato bread. Why? Because it's a great use of leftover mashed potatoes. Just something to think about after #Thankagiving next week! The bread makes wonderful sandwiches. This loaf may also be reincarnated as French toast soon. #baking

@geekyjules.julessherred.com TIL Canada celebrates Thanksgiving, but in October apparently. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on/experiences with this! And any dishes traditionally in common? I have so many questions now...

I've discovered "greening" is not well-known with writers/editors, so I'm sharing. From the article: "Greening was a craft in itself—studying your completed and approved product, your 'finished' piece, to see what could be left out." #writingcommunity #editing

Here's another fun random "word of the day." Glissando. Also recently spotted in a TJ Klune novel. Thanks again, TJ! (And now I just want to listen to "Great Balls of Fire.") #writingcommunity

Can confirm! Had fun playing this tabletop roleplaying game over the weekend. #RPG #TTRPG
Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast was a game that arrived at my house about three days before I had to pack up all my games for moving, so I never got to read it, until now.

HOLY GUACAMOLE is this book good. It's a thing of astonishing depth, breadth, and detail. An incredible achievement. Outstandingly.

Did you eat your frog this morning? Mark Twain: "If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And If it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first." Referring to getting that most challenging task done first. #productivity #procrastination
