Accountability thread for The Nameless Song, draft 6!

Going to do daily posts with word counts quotes/notes/etc about the WIP in which the dragon (ace guy) turns into a dragon (flying lizard) until the draft's done.

Bee pic is me. And also for the beeple. We'll get to them.

An anthropomorphic bee in a blue suit panics as they type away at a laptop with two hands while holding a red book in a third and gripping their head with a fourth. A tiny mug of tea (that's suspiciously honey-colored) sits beside them. The laptop has a beehive logo on the back, if you needed more cute.

At the very least, Mick and Eleanor have finally met Reuben? :') :') :')

#LGBTQWriteAThon The problem with having a week where you're running yourself ragged every single day is that the week after, you're in recovery mode. Didn't get as many words down as I wanted and because *work* ran me ragged this week, I have a lot left IRL to do, but there's always next week? 🫠

What is making me happy and hopeful today is @conjured.ink's efforts to support decentralized online shops for creatives, as a defense against platform-based discrimination and censorship.

They are taking contributions now if you wish to fund them!

DAY 32: 411. I'd worked for a solid 11 hours today, and I'll be waking up early tomorrow for even more, which probably explains the absolute chaotic energy of today's writing. Case in point: bsky.app/profile/jaxw...

Sometimes, an emotion can be effectively conveyed through the use of imagery and poetic prose.

Other times, you just have to make your audience feel the exact emotion themselves.

(Alternatively: Lines I Will Likely Cut, but Only After Forcing the Betas to Read It First, Part 1)
The man’s mouth hung open. His expression twisted into something akin to a look Mick had only seen one time, when a bunch of Southwindians watched an avant-garde performance in the town square involving six gnome bards, a set of bagpipes, and a taxidermied alligator.

*bows* What, precisely, was this performance about, might one ask?

🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🐊

Aww, I get it, but you made the right call with that poor owl friend. D: Felt is *tough*.

That said, fair enough! Like, on the one hand, I still say follow your heart, but on the other, rotate plush friends? 8D
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
Ah, going back to those short stories is *brave* of you. I have more free stuff on an old blog (circa 2021-2022) that I need to move, and ngl, on the one hand, I'm terrified of even looking at it. 😂 On the other, you have a point: it *would* be interesting to compare!
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
Aww, thank you! :D I'm hoping that when it comes time to put out a book I'm *not* releasing episodically, the betas can help the quality be a little more consistent, but I'm delighted to know I'm heading in the right direction! 8D
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
Okay, but he looks so soft, tho! 👀👀
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
Even less help: As far as I can recall with official Pokémon merch, there aren't official quagsire puppets, so you'll be helping indie artists/crafters if you do it. 8) In short, *do it*!

Thank you so much! :D I appreciate it!

So I guess what I'm getting at is:
1. Beenjamin makes me happy. Bee-hold him.
2. A good part of happiness is learning to talk about yourself and also consciously looking for beauty and wonder in the world around you.
3. Bees are amazing, and I love them.
4. I can't read; here's my full answer. :V
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
Not to mention taking Beenjamin out (in a bag that also has my journal in it): 1) encourages me to write and 2) encourages me to seek out new places to "show" Beenjamin. It's easier to go out there and explore the world with wonder, because I feel like I'm sharing them with someone who gets me.
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
And besides that, Beenjamin's made me appreciate a lot of small things too. I started getting really into learning about bees, so now when I'm out on my walks, I'm looking for bees, and *because* I'm looking for something small, I'm noticing small details that make the world a little more beautiful.
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
So like, if it's been a while since I've cleaned a thing, I tell Beenjamin every last step I need to do, and it gets easier to tackle them. If I'm feeling depressed, I talk to Beenjamin about what's making me feel depressed, and all of a sudden, it's easier to navigate my feelings.
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
Like, I realize I'm a whole-ass adult and this is a plush animal, but idk, from the first day I got him, I started doing the whole rubber duck debugging thing. Like, that thing where programmers talk about issues they're having to a rubber duck to make sense of them? But with everything.
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
Reading over other responses to this tag makes me think about what makes me happy, and honestly . . . it's weirdly still Beenjamin. :V Thinking back over the months since I've gotten him, I've been a lot happier in a lot of ways.
jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social
Thank you! It was fun to do, and honestly, after years of starting projects, only to abandon them, it feels great to finally finish this one little scarf, haha.

#LGBTQWriteAThon I talked about Lemon Balm last time (which is still on pre-order and comes out on Halloween!)

This time, let me talk about my art. I do commissions for bookish art, graphics, and formatting, and I keep my prices low in order to be more accessible to indies.

Check me out here!

I'm throwing a curveball here that has nothing to do with writing. I'm pals with an artist, @floofnsweet.io, who makes awesome stuff. Always brightens my day to see what they're working on. I highly recommend them, especially if you want to commission something!
