We should all be as woke as woke can be. Great books!

Also, just a duology? No others planned?

US Kindle readers: The Alloy Era duology (Meru + Loka) is on sale for the month of October. Get both for less than $5 and enjoy some “woke as woke can be” #spaceopera and far future #sciencefiction.

(Yes, that is an actual review that someone left for MERU, and it still brings me great joy. 😂)

I got a very early arc of Vanessa Fogg's story collection The House of Illusionists, and have been reading a story in between other books for a few months. I went back and re-read the first 8, then 1 or 2 a day since then. 2 more to go, hope to finish tonight. It publishes 3 Nov.

I'm sure it will be of no consequence to the employees at the large AAFES distribution center in my town. Or at Fort Cavazos about 40 miles away.

It's not a problem for me even if I never listen to the playlist.

I hope this is not the last we see of Reid and Henryk, but I will read whatever Premee writes. I suggest you do the same. The link is for the 3rd novella, but you can scroll up for comments on the previous 2 stories.

Transmentation|Transience by Darkly Lem, a shared pseudonym for 5 authors, one of whom is Cadwell Turnbull, whose recently completed Convergence Saga is also mind-blowing.

I have been reading an advance review copy of a story collection due out Nov. 3. Once again I will set it aside to start the latest from @premeemohamed.com , The First Thousand Trees, which I got in the mail today from Bookshop, just one day after its release. Yay me! Yay Bookshop! Yay Premee!

Sorry, but I am behind, having only read the first 12 plus a few of the short stories. I will eventually get to it though.

I've had an arc of Vanessa Fogg's House of Illusionists for a while, and had read almost half, but set it aside for other things. Now going back to the beginning for another read. It comes out 3 Nov.

In 2025 finding a reviewer who just nearly reads just exclusively male authors is really a sign more work is needed - guys open up your shelves to the bigger pile of great books out there

In spite of being confused throughout the trilogy, I enjoyed it and recommend for other readers up for a challenge. The link is for the third book, but you can scroll up the page to read my comments on the previous two.

INFOMOCRACY!
senategabe.bsky.social
There was a book I read in 2016 as a field organizer. I am struggling to remember it now but it was about how we reached the endpoint of politics since data and science has solved all its mysteries.

And since then, my life has experience has taught me over and over again this is very not true.

Nothing of any worth has been published in the genre since the very first, and indisputably greatest of all. Frankenstein. Everything since has been pure drivel.

I am hoping to finish A Ruin, Great and Free today, the conclusion of Cadwell Turnbull's Convergence Saga.

So, so many, but I will never stop mentioning and recommending Malka Older's Centenal Cycle: Infomocracy, Null States, and State Tectonics.

I use the word confused quite a bit in these reviews, but don't think that means I didn't like the books. I made slight edits to the original review from 4 years ago + added comments on the second book of Cadwell Turnbull's Convergence Saga.
