My big point is simple: it's the fascism dumbasses.

It's happening right now extremely obviously and everyone in power seems obsessed with pretending its not and thinking about something else.

The fischer protocol!

I believe it was dismissed as impractical out of concerns that this would mean the president would never nuke anyone which is hilarious.
senategabe.bsky.social
Sometimes I also try to pretend that nuclear weapons are actually made up to intimidate everyone but aren't real.
senategabe.bsky.social
I try to make up a story in my head sometimes that there is a secret group of every single person in charge of launching those things that has vowed they would never follow through orders to launch.

I know its fiction but I need at least a few lies to tell myself.

garland's DOJ didn't even appoint a special prosecutor until nov. 2022! and that only happened because liz cheney and the J6 committee of summer 2022 shamed garland into getting off his ass and finally doing the bare minimum

No worries, a guy who can’t tell reality from fiction and says he is going scotched earth on liberals would never be crazy enough to nuke Chicago just because his aide Psycho Gorman told him that the red button in the suitcase would fetch him a Coke.
senategabe.bsky.social
So what's going on with the nuclear arsenal these days anyway?

Is everything under control? I'm sure it is fine.

It is so so funny how the revisionist history is that the Biden administration and its acolytes were way too aggressive in pursuing Trump.
annabower.bsky.social
You’ve gotta be kidding me.

This WaPo editorial presents a misleading revisionist history of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s criminal cases against Trump.

Then it has the gall to compare that to Trump’s overt targeting of his perceived enemies.

Really embarrassing stuff.
But the mere fact that a legal tool might be available does not mean it should be used. The
current rage over Grassley's revelation shows why. Smith showed little restraint in his pursuit of a former president. He charged Trump for official acts he took as president. He sought a gag order to limit Trump's ability to criticize the prosecution. He tried to accelerate the case to try a leading presidential candidate before the 2024 election.

They are, and the consequences are extremely dire, but that pales in comparison to the much bigger problem: we don't have a legitimate president of the United States right now. What we are to make of his enablers and supporters who have thereby also delegitimized themselves is a secondary problem.
prchovanec.bsky.social
I think people seriously underestimate what it means to say that the Supreme Court is “illegitimate”, and what the consequences of saying it (and meaning it) are.
senategabe.bsky.social
This is all getting very weird.

Jeffries to Lawler: "You're a complete and total embarrassment. You're embarrassing yourself and your district right now. And you're going down to defeat next year."

U.S. Northern Command says that elements of the Texas national guard are now “employed in the greater Chicago area.”

The statement claims that they’ve been deployed to protect ICE and federal property.

Effective today, elements of the Texas National Guard, under Title 10 authority and command and control of U.S. Northern Command, are employed in the greater Chicago area.
These soldiers are employed to protect U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other
U.S. Government personnel who are performing federal functions, including the enforcement of federal law, and to protect federal property.

Maybe one day I will look into this but I don't really know too much about the mechanism of reflexive Dem defenders, it was never any project I was part of.

I know they pay some people to spout the party line and they probably have some bots but whatever, it's not working very well.
senategabe.bsky.social
The Dems pay some people to pump up their stuff but honestly it is so hysterical to me the lengths some people go to defend the most powerful people on earth.

If this person isn't getting paid I hope they figure out a way to get paid! They pay people to do this for them! No one else needs to!

"Hey man, this is so crazy. How DARE you suggest the leader of the opposition talk about the war the president of the united states is waging against our nation!"
senategabe.bsky.social
Who is this guy? I didn't realize I touched such a nerve ha.

Wrong Rock! Wrong Rock!

(Also this person is insane and I can't believe so many people follow him, criminal charges WTF are you talking about man)
senategabe.bsky.social
I used to do messaging in the senate, I don't anymore.

It is not my job to write posts that match whatever nonsense framings the big bosses in Washington want me to say. If they want me to do that they should pay me again.
senategabe.bsky.social
I never said that he was the biggest problem nor do I find it a problem that he wished to shut down the government.

It's his obvious lies and obfuscations about why and how he is willing to ignore the obvious problems that are the issue.
senategabe.bsky.social
I'm not going to block you. Just want you to elaborate on why it is insane.

Elon Musk literally wrote a blurb about his book, he openly talks about how they talk with each other all the time, and both Elon/Theil have had way more than a dinner with Epstein.

My office was told "Good news everyone, the senate approved a cost of living adjustment of 3%" which was an obfuscation at best.

Other offices were told variants of this but were told 1.5%. Some were told nothing at all.
senategabe.bsky.social
My last year on the Hill, I spent a weekend looking through the budget and discovering the increases in senate budgets, which had not been reported anywhere. They were let us say 6% (varied by state a bit).

I talked with staffers in other offices about this and no one had been told about this.
senategabe.bsky.social
In the meantime @ericmgarcia.bsky.social, I would look first at staff pay inequalities in public records, and also ask questions about if staff are clued in when congress gives itself increases in its staff budgets and how those are distributed.

This reveals quite a bit by itself.
