Planning to attend an event this weekend?

It’s always a good idea to go over your rights as a protestor before you go. @aclu.org has an excellent resource here. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

The First Amendment protects your right to assemble and express your views through protest. However, police and other government officials are allowed to place certain narrow restrictions on the exerc...

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

A man rushed to the Broadview ICE facility searching for his wife. They followed every legal step, but ICE took her into another room and she vanished. He tracked her phone there when the signal died. Police told him to “look up her name online.” He sat in the parking lot, weeping, with no answers.

Once again I will remind my fellow Americans that we have a constitutional duty to throw off abusive governments and replace them with new ones.

The time is now.

This is your reminder that a prison without due process is a concentration camp.

If they can claim ANYONE is a criminal or terrorist and deport them to a gulag in another nation without due process, then they can do the same to me and you. If you think "But I 'm American, I can prove it!", that requires due process, a chance to do just that, if that is gone you get no say.

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act.

Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes?
Staffer: a DL and birth certificate.
Me: The documents don’t match
Staffer: Then a marriage certificate.
Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too?
Staffer: No
Me: See the problem?

yeah man, please make my 85 year
old great aunt prove her citizenship to vote in rural georgia, this definitely isn’t reminiscent of anything in the american past
🧵 There are a lot of misleading claims out there about the SAVE Act. Let me set the record straight: I voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that American elections are for Americans. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is common sense.

Then they came for your right to privacy, and you said nothing for you had nothing to hide.

Thank you for this reminder, that it is indeed “profoundly American” to criticize our leaders and hold them accountable.
After Trump & Vance’s utterly disgraceful performance it’s good to see European leaders step up. It’s profoundly American to criticize our leaders when they stray from democratic principles let alone what we are seeing in Trump’s administration. As a proud American I intend to fight for our country.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Hi, just a reminder that when you use Libro.fm for your audiobooks, you support independent bookshops vs. large corporations that drive them out of business.

We also pay taxes. And so do indie bookshops.
