The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other – to disturb, even – is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.

As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to – painful as it may be at times – is the freeing agreement to disagree.

Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich. Silencing us impoverishes the whole world.

So when a studio creates unpaid internships in place of hiring and paying someone to do the work they need, we call that exploitative. But when a union crowdsources their members to perform unpaid labor that the office should actually hire staff to perform, we call that an act of service.

I am actively applying to Communications Manager / Digital Communications Organizer positions at unions. Just mentioning this for no particular reason today if any union out there would like help to not look tone deaf and out of touch on public forums.

Luckily the elected time was a normal enough hour for our Communications Director to actually follow my advice. That petition ended up generating over 16k signatures…

Maybe someday I can find a union that values seeing “astrologer” listed on my communications strategist resume. 🌟

TLDR; I am currently in a North Node sub period, so this felt on the nose in describing the last few months for me. Wanted to share in case it helps anyone else.

And so you are forced to leave with all your things, never to have experienced this anticipated party that everyone told you about. But the point of it all is that you never would have taken the time to gather what you needed (be it knowledge, skills, etc) if you had known you’d never end up going.

It’s like being told about a party, given the invitation and all the instructions on what to prepare and how to get there. You take the time to gather what you need and make your way to the precipice of this party. The only obstacle left is getting past a river that lays between you and this fiesta.

Went out tonight with the intention of connecting with an art gallery and somehow instead managed to connect with a Vedic astrologer. They shared a story their teacher had told them about how the energy of the North Node shows up for people that really resonated with me…

Hi. I’m a professional traditional artist of over 15 years & I was able to make a decent living until 3 years ago.

In May 2023, over 50 of my paintings had been scraped without my consent to fuel AI image generators like Midjourney.

Here is my main opinion on AI, in every capacity: What is the point of technology? Is it to make our lives better and easier, or is it to make a very small percentage of people richer? The latter is what AI is doing. The people actually doing the coding are making themselves redundant.

the thing about astro is that i literally wouldn’t do it if it didn’t work. it’s applied theory at the end of the day. theoretically, it’s a very well functioning set of frameworks. you can project a lot of things/various set of circumstances onto it and it will respond very consistently
