It’s our research aircraft’s birthday this week!

It’s the oldest airliner still flying in the UK - albeit studying the atmosphere rather than carrying passengers ✈️

Since 2004, it's helped scientists to learn more about the Earth’s atmosphere, weather, climate change, and air pollution.
A large blue and white aircraft with the letters FAAM on its tail glides through a cloudy sky, with green patches of land far below. Text says: 'Happy birthday, G-LUXE!'.

Provisional statistics from the Met Office show that summer 2025 will ‘almost certainly’ be the warmest summer on record for the UK.

It would move 2018 off the top spot and relegate 1976 out of the top five warmest summer in a series which dates back to 1884.

TerraFIRMA funding contributes to a new study by Laura Wilcox on how cleaning up air pollution reveals more climate warming.

Clean air, warmer planet? New study co-authored by NCAS's Laura Wilcox shows East Asia’s air pollution clean-up may have lifted a “cooling mask,” revealing more GHG warming.

A reminder that we must cut emissions and pollution - for climate and health.

Recent efforts to reduce air pollution in East Asia may have inadvertently contributed to a noticeable acceleration in global warming since 2010
