Leftie badger. Small ginger cat to support.

Was hoping things would get better…

Guys? This isn’t OKC. Stay out of my DMs.
Overheard a Y6 boy asking girls if they knew what rubber johnnies were. I said I didn’t know so he’d better ask the HT. She ‘enlightened’ him.
A Y6 elsewhere told his table that he was going to r*pe me. I said the girls in class shouldn’t hear stuff like that. He got suspended for week.
It’s needed.

Thank you. The Russian sailors & the harbour took me back to Christmas Day 1964, walking back from my grandmother’s with my parents & little brother -past a Russian boat in the harbour.
A little girl spontaneously sent up the gangplank to give a sailor a box of Quality Street & say Merry Christmas.

Some kind of decoration?
Although goodness knows what.

I think they’re legit.
I’ve a photo of my dad sitting on a bike with his big brother and they look like that.

Has Bernard Manning’s place breached capacity- because it’s full of Reform and the Tory rats leaving her sinking ship…
December 17, 2025 at 4:02 PM
Nope. Bristol.

But there’s definitely a banjo missing from that photo…
December 16, 2025 at 8:24 PM
But you all look reasonably normal.
I looked like this…
Or worse.

I’m generally alto - although singing shapes I’ll go to treble if the parts need evening up.
West Gallery I play and sing. Turns out moving to Sussex has been a jolly good thing. I’ve got a ready made social life with folk I’ve been doing music with for twenty years elsewhere…

I think Kate did it with Chamber Choir at school, but she had a three octave range.
I was most upset I didn’t have the reach to sing the top line in Balulalow.
I still have the score somewhere - from 1973…
How is that 52 years ago?
December 16, 2025 at 7:18 PM
That was one of our O level set works.
Sublime.

On the A835 there’s a junction where you turn off to go to Scourie/Durness going north and the road climbs pretty steeply. August, about 21.30.
Deer jumps across the road and I slam the brakes on…
He ambles off - and standing in the heather watching are all his mates.
Barsteward was playing chicken.

Came to say that.
We have universal remote controls over here too. I’d keep one in my bag and change GBeebies - that’s our far right tabloid channel… 🙄
December 10, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Well done!
I suppose that’s as good a start as any.
December 9, 2025 at 11:25 PM
Of course…
🙄

Diplomacy.
Charles took one for the team and kept him out of the way in Windsor.
Even the trip in the posh coach was just around the garden…

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
1930s William books.
Scouting For Boys and Biggles books.
I was a strange child.

Small classes.
Networking (both parents and ‘alumni’) and the social circle.
Cachet.
Being a formal pupil of even a modest private or grammar school opens doors because many people are a bit snobbish.
There’s an element of coaching in the teaching - for Common Entrance or the Oxbridge selection.

And?
December 4, 2025 at 12:17 PM
Because she got the title of the chess competition she won thirty years ago wrong?
🙄
House in Clacton? Where did the money come from?
December 4, 2025 at 8:28 AM
That’s actually no surprise.
You’ll remember I’m no lightweight - but walking from the car in Lewes last night I had to duck behind a wall as I couldn’t keep my balance in the wind.
Luckily the rest of the house is in Cologne so the trains don’t matter…

I know they’re killing machines - but they look so very cute.
I can’t imagine what it must be like to have one on the decking asking for a treat…
November 29, 2025 at 8:46 PM
All his alter egos? Yes.
November 28, 2025 at 2:03 PM
That was my first thought.
Absolute shyster(s) - all of them.
November 28, 2025 at 10:36 AM
So where’s MY pub lunch?
November 24, 2025 at 8:15 AM
Yes. They did read differently in the 80s.
And I dare say being in the UK & being white also mitigated the effect - but her books were never ever an easy read.
We had Tar Baby, S of S, The Bluest Eye & Beloved on our reading list.
But then Cry,The Beloved Country was on our O level list in 1973…
