Exactly. Sure, take what was good and fun, but don't take something ONLY because that is how they did it then. The genre was relatively new, so a lot of experimentation was happening along with software/hardware limitations that are no longer present. Plus, most people don't play only one game now.

Makes me a little sad. Was always fun to see a new MR episode drop and find out what crazy things you were up to back then based on this stuff. I remember many references to the improvised weapon guide.

Feel like this isn't just a WoW issue though. Same phenomenon happens with politics, music, science denial, etc. Have to wonder in the case of WoW how many of these opinions people would have actually had on their own without a creator/influencer putting it in their heads.
