MEMPHIS TEACHERS: “Vouchers don’t benefit the underserved. It segregates it.”

Reminder: By the end Jack Johnson stopped even pretending it would, and insisted neither he or Lee or anyone ever said the voucher scam was intended to help low income kids🤔

A reminder that fiction — books, film, games, what have you — is always political. The willful absence of “politics” in any work is itself a political choice and a political act. Who gets to tell (and sell) stories is political. It might be an undercurrent — covert, not overt. But it’s there.

Medical toxicologist here to confirm: all available, real-world data has proven mifepristone is actually even safer than many over the counter medicines.

Mortality rates:

Mifepristone: 0.65/100,000
Penicillin 2/100K
Viagra 4/100K

Pregnancy in the US: 22/100,000 (some states see rates >60/100K)
FYI
Viagra has more serious side effects than Mifepristone

Mifepristone has a lower risk of side effects than penicillin

So why is it such a big deal to these GOP boys anyway?

Dear Turbo Tax:
Your app is giving me the ick today. Asking me if I have a written or verbal permission from my deceased spouse to claim my kids on my taxes seems like an insensitive error you’ve overlooked. You should probably fix that by asking if their other parents is even among the living 😉.

Oooh good question. My tbr is long but the ones I’m looking forward to the most are by Brandon Sanderson and R.F. Kuang.

As far as current favorites: Legendborn, Metalslinger, Five Broken Blades, Spark of the Everflame, Throne of Glass, and Fourth wing.

I think all sequels should have a “here’s what happened in the last book” section the way Four Ruined Realms does.
I read Five Broken Blades before Christmas and have read quite a few since. I really appreciated the quick rundown so I could remember without having to reread a whole book.

Stayed up way too late too read the first chapter of #onyxstorm at midnight but it was so worth it. Too bad I have to work in the morning … probably will be one of my less productive days 🤣.
