This is exactly what they wanted when they pulled funding. They couldn't use an executive order and they weren't sure there was political will to pass a law to get rid of it, so they just defunded it away.

Drinking water plants don't have ways to remove salt. If the water source gets contaminated, there's no efficient and cost effective way to get rid of it. This is going to be a big problem for a lot of coastal cities as sea levels rise.

@prophiphop.bsky.social I heard you on your podcast talking about removing the concrete from riverbeds in LA. We have been starting to do that around here and it's greatly helped the local fish population. Plus it turned out to be a bad flood management strategy anyway.
