My home tutor asked me once (I was 16) if I'd read 1984, because a lot of it is starting to happen. I asked about flying cars. Had no clue. I read 1984 when I was maybe 23. A bit dry, but what an education, the instruction manual for modern politics. But only rightwingers are allowed to cry "1984!"

Bloody TUESDAY! I'm a diabetic with a gum infection and nobody can see me until bloody TUESDAY! Plan B: See dr for painkillers, call emergency dentist on the weekend, corsodyl rinses five times a day. Hopefully that'll be enough to offset the pain/infection/death

I neglect my health, never been good at doing otherwise, but a tooth infection is the only thing that's come properly close to killing me since the time a gum abscess actually killed me when I was 12. We don't fuck with tooth or gum infections in this house. Hope I can make them see sense.

I used to ring Paul and say "I'm in a lot of pain, it might be an infection, we know how serious that can be" and at latest I'd be in his chair the next day. New one says ring for emergency triage in the morning, or make an appointment in November for my infected might-actually-kill-me tooth

I was with my previous dentist Paul since I was a child, he was my first and favourite until I was maybe 35, when he retired. He knew where my nerves were, how best to keep my anxiety chill.
New dentist sucks. Gotta ring for an appointment just to get looked at, separate for treatment.
