A CRIMINAL!!". Image description end] And this is what we see Spamton thinks about Tenna, looking back at their relationship. Remember how I mentioned the unreliable narrator thing? Their version of events, and an approximation of what really happened are three completely different things. And god if this isn't a treat. Image description end] A lot of them are brought to you by Sweepstakes and god, this is another bit of Deltarune ARG that you can't miss. Not only is it hilarious, it also gives you a lot of info about not just Spamton, but also Noelle. There are multiple items with Spamton's hilarious descriptions, pages and blog entries hidden in the links... There's also the Spamton Value Network video that's a masterpiece in itself. And this is what Spamton has to say about Tenna on the website: It's important to note that the [it hurts! It Hurts!] bit is a link to "that damn boob tube] page (both screenshoted above). Oh yeah, what is the page advertising? This is where the running joke that Spamton is divorced came from. Well, this, and many other very divorced things Spamton kept saying, most if not all referring to Tenna btw. And speaking of Spamton saying divorced things, this is one of the official Spamton Valentines you could receive in the Deltarune newsletter last Valentine's day: Remind you of something? This doesn't leave much room for interpretation - it seems pretty clear who Spamton is referring to here. There's another one, too: Well- There's also the Sweepstakes Mr and Mrs and Spamton cutting board, which doesn't directly reference Tenna, but god does it allude to him. Well OP you brought it onto yourself, so now you'll be exposed to my spamtenna infodupming. This will get long, so I'll cut the post under read more after a (not that) brief introduction. This is my illustrated guide to why spamtenna is so popular™ and all the clues we get about them in canon. I totally get people who are confused about this ship, cause for the first two months of getting into deltarune I was like: "why are people so obsessed with a character who showed up for ~2 minutes". I thought foolishly, but I also played the game thinking "eeh the secret boss stuff seems to hard it's probably skippable" (it's not if you have the slightest interest in DR lore) (it's even less if you want to find out why people are obsessed with Spamton and/or spamtenna), so was I to be trusted? This particular way Toby does exposition in his games is what draws me to them in the first place - sometimes we get to see things are they happen. Rarely, we get like 5 characters standing in a row that are going to narrate the event for you: [ image description : two screenshots one after another. The first one is one of the final scenes in undertale, where the king froggits tell the story of Asriel's death. The second is from deltarune, and depicts a row of Addisons talking about Spamton] But most often, we find things through environmental storytelling: object description, carefully placed items, hints in character dialogue that are very easily missed, if you're not trying to look. This is how in Undertale we find a lot of things about about Chara, about Asriel (both technically show up for a short moments in the game, but are central to the events of the game). The same way, we can learn a lot about Dess in Deltarune - even though she hasn't showed up in person yet, there's so much we can infer about what she was like, and she's clearly central to the story. This is also how we also get most of Spamton's backstory - yeah the Addisons did a nice summary for us, so even those less inquisitive can see "okay this guy had something lore relevant happen to him". He may not be the main character, but he is very important to the themes of the game, he's a foil for Kris, and his arc is one of the most revealing when it comes to the big mysteries of deltarune to date. And other than the fact that we get relatively little of spamtenna through such direct exposition (and even to get it, you have to do 2 secret boss quest lines), I don't see why it's dismissed as somehow less valid when it follows the type of storytelling Toby's been doing since Undertale. I would also argue, and this is my thesis statement, that this is the IT factor that makes this ship so popular, or at least one of the most important factors. Spamton and Tenna's relationship is a puzzle you need to piece together through carefully placed hints and references And trying to solve it builds interest - it's like getting to eat a warm meal after a challenging hike, or like those toys you buy for dogs where they have to get to a tasty little treat encapsulated in plastic. For those not that familiar or interested in Spamton lore (though if that's the case, I'm puzzled why you'd be here), a very short summary of what we know happened to Spamton. Spamton was one of the Addisons, but very unsuccessful at his predetermined role. He always wanted to be A BIG SHOT (as he'd brag to his coworkers), but he'd fail miserably. One day, his luck changed drastically due to a "mysterious benefactor" - he'd get insanely successful seemingly overnight, and the other Addisons shunned him for it. All of a sudden, he had these big TV Deals (👀), lived in Queen's mansion, and was a big name in Cyber City. Then, one day it all ended - he lost everything in a matter of moments. He was evicted and landed in the metaphorical and literal dumpster. We also know that he used to be like the other Addisons (just a little shorter), in his own words: [image description: fangamer QA where Spamton responds to user question. Spamton's reply says: ONCE I WAS LIKE THEM, JUST [A little shorter than the others]. BUT ONCE I STARTED USING [The] SPAMTON [Method] EVERY DAY, AND BECOME [Big] IN SECONDS! NOW THEY'RE SO [Small], SO [Microscopic] I [can't even see them anymore even if I wanted to.] So we also know he was subjected to a horrific transformation into the puppet he is today when the deal went wrong. Not only his body, but his speech was corrupted too (which we can safely assume through a Japanese translation of pre-puppetification Spamton line). Heartbreaking stuff. This is also supported by Tenna not recognising him (or at least getting away with pretending not to recognise him) in the fateful pipis scene. But we'll get to it later. We also find out Spamton found the NEO body in the basement (strongly implied to be Mettaton's abandoned design of his dream body in drawn in paint), which is the onus of the secret boss plotline, as Spamton gets Kris to carry him to the body so that he may possess it, something he's not able to do on his own due to Swatch's watchful eye. His relationship with Swatch (who I'd say we could read as tolerating Spamton only because his social position, though it's my interpretation) went downhill because of Spamton's attempt of taking the manifestations of dreams of a Lightner for a joyride. Spamton straight up worshiped that body, went to the basement to pray to it when things went down. But we also know it seems sacred to the Swatchlings, and Swatch saw it as borderline sacrilegious that Spamton tried to used it for his own gain. We can see that difference of priorities (and the fact that it likely was Swatch who had to do Spamton's evicting) is a very sore point for Spamton, for whom Swatch is another name on the list of people he felt betrayed by. Then we have the events we can see in the game directly - the NEO fight, Spamton believing it'll help him to get free and to reach "Heaven" (the light world?) as he's willing to kill Kris to attain that goal. But as easily as Spamton gets rage baited (he believed Kris was trying to double cross him for some goddamn reason), he's also quick to forgive, the emotionally impulsive king he is. He now pronounces Kris his only real friend, and gives up his very being to become a tool for Kris to get their own freedom. Awww. So... what about Tenna then? What is their relationship now? So this is roughly what we know after ch2 came out, until Spamton Sweepstakes and Chapter 3 roll around, and now the mysterious "CRT" he keeps referring to has a face, backstory and personality. And god, I don't think anyone predicted this is what their dynamic and story were going to be. Cause all that we see from Spamton is the vitriol we would assume that the mysterious Tenna is some evil mastermind that manipulated him into whatever happened to lead to his downfall. Instead it's this guy:

Whether you write pre-puppetification spamton with or without his speech quirk, I don't think there's very definitive proof either way, but there's SOMETHING. Something I'm interpreting as "this was the effect of The Communion™":
