But just circling back to shipping again, I actually prefer not having all the information. Having room for speculation and playing around. I rarely have any active interest in ships that are fully laid out in canon, cause I can just sit back and watch it happen. It's the possibilities that are fun.

I could go on but don't want to spam you more than I already have and you made an interesting point there, cause that's how a lot of people feel - especially those who claim "the ship is barely there" as opposed to "it's a ship I don't feel like digging for" which is totally fair.

Their relationship, once you dig it out, foils some of the main struggles and themes of the story perfectly. The theme of freedom, and how their relationship was a form of defiance of their assigned roles and purpose, which they both were punished for. The nostalgia for the past. The divorce.

Dig for, works perfectly with the themes of the story. They're Darkners, and as such, they only serve as background for what Lightners are going through. They don't matter - maybe we know they do, but the story doesn't. It's a narrative thesis that we're actively working against.

And I find it kinda funny when people insist on like a 'formal' proof queer characters being or having been in a romantic relationship. It's a Toby Fox story, we're not being queer baited here.

But I don't also particularly think they have to - from the shipping perspective maybe I'm just old school and I don't think we need characters to kiss and get married to be considered canon. I also don't need my ships to be canon if it's not right for the story. Also they're plenty canon enough.

Cause in the end the story is not about them, and as much as I love spamtenna cause it's like a yaoi ARG, I don't really expect them taking a lot of space in the story that's already packed with characters with their own arcs.

What you see as an issue, some people see as a feature. For me, it's very rewarding that their relationship is like a secret you get to pick apart and then see there's intention behind it all along? I'm very curious to see where it goes, though it wouldn't be suprised if it just ended on the hints
