...but with God all things are possible. (Matt. 19:26)

Wrestles with God.
Rethinking the Revelation.

Jesus didn’t call us to build a Christian nation. He called us to stand up for the least of these. If you call yourself a follower of Jesus what are you doing to adhere to his call?

Jesus said love your neighbor not legislate against them. We can, and we will build a better way forward that advocates for everyone.

Where does one go to discuss eschatology? I seem to have a radically different understanding of the Revelation than what I've seen others share. Are people open to new/different interpretations? How do you connect with people to explore these ideas?

A Christianity rooted in patriarchy will always define women first and foremost by their relationship to men.

A Christianity rooted in the gospel of Jesus will always see women first and foremost as fellow human beings created in God's image.

May we understand the difference.

One of the defining characteristics of modern evangelicalism is the prioritization of controlling how others should live over how oneself can better demonstrate Christ. When what another person is, does, or believes matters more than our own duty to emulate open-handed Christ … we abuse the Cross.

We were taught Jesus loved the least of these. Now we watch pastors bless politicians who mock the poor and deport the vulnerable. And we mourn what American Christianity has become.

Want to take your faith seriously? It starts by taking justice seriously, too. Just like Jesus.

A Christianity that is offended by someone advocating for the poor, the immigrant, the hungry, the sick, the marginalized, and the oppressed, is a Christianity that is offended by Jesus.

Therefore, it is no longer Christianity.

I’m going to say something that shouldn’t be controversial but will be. If you are a Christian, you can support border control and immigration being legal vs illegal. You CANNOT celebrate deportations and get off on the cruelty, and be a real Christ follower. Period

America is not a Christian nation.

America is a nation where the rich and powerful have reduced Christianity to just another tool to exploit for their own interests at the expense of the very people Jesus called us to serve: the poor, the hungry, the sick, the stranger, and the oppressed.

We are actually living in a time where some Christians see mercy as offensive, empathy as a sin, and diversity, equity, and inclusion as a threat.

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.” -Isaiah 5:20

Lord, have mercy.

If it’s not good news to the poor, the imprisoned, and the oppressed, then it’s not what Jesus is anointed to do, and thus not truly Christian—no matter how hard some may try to convince us that it’s “biblical.”

1/ Encountering the Divine. I listened to a sermon yesterday about the retelling of the nativity and how the shepherds in the field were the first to receive the good news about the birth of the Messiah. The shepherds were "sore afraid" of the angel(s) who delivered the news.

It’s a broken society that loves its guns so much that it refuses to alter its relationship with them even for the sake of its children.

It’s a broken Christianity that not only sees nothing wrong with our society’s unholy love of guns but supports it.
