This shape is called an "extended butterfly". Today I called it an "overextended butterfly" - that heel should have been on the other side of the pole for stability.
It worked out surprisingly well despite this mistake and I didn't even fall 😅

New nails as well - but I was lazy and simply painted over the previous colors 🙈

I don't have a proper picture of the outfit yet but I have an action shot of me giving my talk on "exploratory ensemble testing" today with my usual "my values" slide.
This is a rather conservative conference so I'm glad that I got to do all of this. Let's see if I'll allowed to be back 😁

Presenting: matching nail polish as well 😁
For the sake of transparency: I had all that in my wardrobe already, so building the outfit was easy

Today and tomorrow I'm attending one of the largest software testing conferences in Germany. In the past it was very "white middle aged men in suits" which is thankfully changing.
Still I decided to bring my whole self to mix things up - in conference colors no less 😁

Sure, you can use AI to create an image for the quote "if all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail" in a keynote.
If those nails end up having threads and thus are screws it just feels wrong and like you don't care about the audience.

Had the best #pole class in a long time. We did hard stuff and I have a lot to improve - and at the same time so many shapes just worked and actually looked pretty.
I've been doing this for almost exactly three years now and my love for this sport is as strong as ever.

I'm still not good at handstand tricks on the #pole so I have to change them to ellbow stands.
Everything else was great though and I'm super stoked that I'm at a point where the trainer saying "add something of your own" doesn't make my mind go blank 🥰

Had a few video calls this morning where I was presenting so I took #ReverseCasualFriday seriously. I was considering my sparkly tie first but didn't want it to distract people.

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Various bodily issues meant that for the last few weeks my running distances got reduced to 6k - or the running didn't happen at all.
Today I had planned to run 7k but I felt too good so I pushed it a bit.
I'm so stoked to be back at my usual 10k 🥰
My legs are SORE though...

Yesterday we had the pleasure of organizing a childrens birthday party.
We created a safe environment to try something new, provided the necessary tools and let the kids do what they wanted.
The plan was one "practice paper" and one "proper canvas". They had so much fun and couldn't be stopped 🥰

My pole class got changed to an open training today which gave me the opportunity to experiment.
I present: my first ever remy layback!
The leg grip is extremely safe but it was still a mental and physical battle to lay all the way back. I'm super stoked that I got it

CN cancer
It's been a while since my last #ReverseCasualFriday. Today is an important one: It's breast cancer awareness month!
Breast cancer doesn't care about your gender or age so please, everyone, check your boobs!
If anything feels ever so slightly off, tell your doctor.

Lack of sleep didn't stop me from going to #pole class and I ended up flying into the weekend 😁

Happy birthday!

The win: I added a new panel to our balcony solar power plant. The four existing panels point west (blue line), the new one points south (green line).
Seeing how it helps us generate more power earlier in the day makes me ridiculously happy.

Me when the dress code says "Men, put some effort in. A suit is appropriate, overdressed is impossible"

I had an amazing night with a group of wonderful people, watching an empowering stripper style pole show.

I was definitely not overdressed.

Spinning into the weekend (and probably getting #pole content flagged as "sexual" again)

Learned a mew ergonomic sitting position at #pole today.
Sadly getting a pole for my desk in the office will probably not work out 😁

Usually I feel sore the day after #pole class. Skipping it for two weeks means that I felt sore an hour after class already. Also my feet forgot how to point 😅
It felt so good to be back though!

I just remembered this quote from a book I read recently. Reading it for the first time made me reflect a lot on what I want my life to be like and how I could get there.

Hearing one of my pole instructors happily yell "yeeeees!" when I achieve a shape is one of the best feelings ever. Especially when I completely messed up my hand placement on the first try 😬
I'm excited myself and proud of how clean I got the "mermaid" 🧜‍♀️

Now that's a first - a salutation field that not only offers "Ms" and "Mr" and "no salutation" but also "Enby".

Knowing how some non-binary people feel about this term I'm skeptical if this option will see much use but it's kinda nice to see not another "diverse" here.
July 27, 2025 at 4:09 PM
"Tobias, why do you choose the salutation 'diverse' whenever you can?"
1. It feels right to me
2. The tester in me expects software to use it wrong but I want to be sure. Then I can give feedback.

"Diverse" is NOT a salutation, don't use it like one!
(Surprisingly they did well in the email body)

Changed the capacitor today and moved the circuit into an aluminium case which should dissipate heat better and prevent further explosions.
It seems to be working fine so far (PV1). I'm not gaining a lot of power by this but the idea of harnessing the sun just appeals to me and it's a fun project.
