“Out of the Blues” from Lippa’s THE WILD PARTY is one of the best examples of how to do an “I want song”. But not just because of the lyrics, for me it’s about the fluidity of pace and the staccato of the song. You can feel the song driving to the end, as if it’s inertia.

- I have been fired from my job (for little to no reason but 🤷🏽♂️)
- my dog died in my arms Monday morning.
Between the above the fact that I broke my foot in three place in July, I saw with my whole chest:

One of the best new additions to the canon of musical theatre this year. This show deserved a longer life, but this song in particular is fantastic. The consistent beat, the refrain, the story telling, all of it.
