I’m not trying to argue with you, but I’m trying to understand your objection. A leash isn’t autonomy either. If there’s a way that I can give my dog the freedom to sniff, explore and romp in a dog-safe area instead of keeping them on-leash, where the harm?
I like them because the stimulus is consistent - it always feels the same and means the same thing. I also like being able to communicate with the dog when they’re not in arm’s reach. Deaf dogs deserve as much autonomy and as little stress as we can manage.
Most dogs would jump out of their skin if you just strapped one on and pressed the button! But clickers can scare the bejeezus out of some sensitive hearing dogs when they’re not introduced correctly.
