This one took a bit to grow on me. But I get it now. Or as much as I'll ever really dig straight punk. Really enjoying the musical prowess of it.

Things shifted. Kim Deal went lower. I'm unable to keep up.
No matter, Eels is the most fun I've had listening to the top albums of the year so far. It feels multi-generational, goofy and full of charm. Great music, the type of stuff that makes these explorations worth it

It's definitely a Nick Cave album. Glad he's still making new stuff, but I don't think this album particularly does much different from a casual listener's POV...
Still, solid album from a legend. I don't expect it to leave a legacy but it's a good listen.

An absolute shredder. Jam band vibes. I understand that there's a lot of background and interpretation, but I'm not a review site. It's not my vibe. I don't know about the 10/10's floating around, but we're all looking for different things I guess.

Half of it feels like a mid-2000's Straylight Run album fronted by Trevor Powers losing his voice. But I understand why it's here. Every track has something enthralling to it. A build, a repetition, a declaration. An easy album to dismiss but a hard one to forget.

Where to even begin? These books soar, especially for being written 30+ years ago. Allegory and introspection on the nature of the universe and gods abound.

Solid album. First in the metacritic top list that I already have on vinyl. I think it's missing a couple of the highs from previous albums, but the messaging and the lyricism is on point as usual. Definitely not one for everyone, but belongs up here.

Seeing this so high at the top confuses me so much. It's...fine? Like a celebration of indie music from a decade ago. No disrespect to Kim, who has an incredible discography. But...eh. There are albums this year that have more character and weight.

I am surprised that this is less actual country and more an album filled with reverence for pop with some southern influence. Was not however surprised that it was ultimately underwhelming. Rides a lot on star power.
