I have attended just two #AAFPFMX talks so far and have ~8 practice refinements already. Such a great experience.

Nobody wants to pay for #healthcare. The #shutdown fight really centers around:

Should individuals pay much higher premiums when #OpenEnrollment starts next month? (and if they can't, go without insurance or downgrade plans)

or

Should our collective taxes help more broadly to keep people insured?

For further perspective, even before this cut,

for every $100 paid by private insurers:

#Medicare pays $70

#Medicaid pays $42-$49

and they're dropping it lower. You can imagine the math each medical office does to determine how many Medicaid patients they can afford.

There is so much parental demand for this vaccine in my office. We check the VFC ordering site every day and... nothing.

Neither RFK Jr. nor his deputy — who is also acting CDC director — have signed off yet on ACIP recommendations, leaving states unable to order updated Covid shots for the Vaccines for Children program, which serves low-income families.

Two weeks after vaccine advisers approved new Covid recs, Kennedy still hasn’t given his approval, leaving states unable to order updated shots for low-income kids.

Republicans: *Slash federal healthcare funding and refuse to extend health insurance affordability subsidies, hurting their constituents but promising to reverse some of it later.*

Democrats: *Expect them to use an opportunity to do so.*

Republicans: Whyyyy are the Democrats so meeeeeaaaan....?

The fact that it was incredibly easy to find the jobs says something.

“This shift threatens to deter qualified applicants — particularly students from rural, nontraditional and low-income communities — and could worsen the current and projected physician shortage.”

It is an osteopathic curse to know that you have a right-on-left sacral torsion messing up your low back but be unable to do something about it by yourself.
thebandageman.bsky.social
Dems can't chicken out here. Open enrollment is just-over a month away. The sticker shock on health insurance marketplaces is going to be incredible if the federal subsidies aren't renewed. People will absolutely decide that they can't afford coverage or will downgrade their coverage.

The night was cold and dark.

“Listen to the wind howling in the trees,” said Frog. “What a fine time for a ghost story.”

We're not gutting insurance companies for sniffles.

That's what they want you to think we're doing so the public goes along with this BS.

Level 4 work and complete physical exams are just the most common scenario for primary care docs like me.

A level 5 visit is a high bar, but a level 4 is incredibly easy to bill.

Commonl scenarios:
-a chronic condition that's poorly controlled/in exacerbation and starting/adjusting medication to respond.
-2 stable conditions with med management or with ordering 3 routine monitoring tests
-30min 👨🏻‍⚕️⏰

In what other industry can the buyer decide they paid too much, weeks to months after the fact, and go back to steal money from the seller?

I can't count how many new patients I have accepted in the past year who say something like:
"My old doctor retired and then they kept cycling me through doctors because they all kept leaving."
"I had gone there for years, but it's really changed. I can never get in to see my doctor."

We would be fools to allow this to happen.

Hartford Healthcare isn't some angel investor here. They are an aggressively monopolizing institution with an already oversized footprint in #Connecticut.

Every #vaccine consent discussion is shared decision-making. Risks and benefits must be explained to the patient each and every time. Making the official recommendation "shared decision-making" is redundant.

Beyond that, it makes it seem like there is significant doubt in the field.👎🏻
