I was listening to an old Casey Kasem American Top 40 (I find this soothing these days) from 1985 where he told the story of Wendy Carlos, who scored The Shining and Tron, and her journey to becoming trans. Casey got all the pronouns right and it was presented as a slice of life, feel good story
Cool tip: it actually takes MORE effort to deliberately misgender someone AND it marks you as a total asshole! Pretty cool!

This is true and even though I don't post much, I'll post this: trans rights are human rights, and to erase trans voices in any community is to erase some of the kindest, smartest, and funniest people I've ever known. Support them in all endeavors.
To my fellow cishet dudes: when we are quiet about supporting the trans community, the only voices anyone hears are the Charlie Kirks of the world. Don't let accusations of being "performative" or "virtue signaling" shut you up - that's their whole point. Our voices are needed now more than ever.

It felt like such a long, slow crawl out of January this entire month. I'm so happy for the friends and family who kept me together and gave me something to keep together for. Today was a better day. I'm ready for February to feel real.

I'm an obvious mark for Lord of the Rings movies during the holiday season, but I really enjoyed War of the Rohirrim! It felt specifically grounded and in keeping with the mythology of Rohan we had already seen. Just a nice bath to sink into.

For me, there's one scary episode that sticks out. The PBS series Ghostwriter asked horror icon Tom Savini to design a character for the final serial 'Attack of the Slime Monster'. To make matters worse, the episode blurred what parts of the story were 'real' and this face HAUNTED little kid me.

I've been in such an absolute groove with my writing lately. Just found a way to string two seperate threads of my research together and got that giddy thrill of a really meaty idea to explore. Its nice to feel this again.
