Also, on the concept that “the point of a university is education,” land-grant colleges and other public institutions do a FAR better job than most SLACs or Ivies: educating way more people & providing many more with upward mobility. Elite NE schools really just have research & networks.

Having just spent a day walking around Charlotte, I note that I saw a lot of hats, shirts, and car stickers of Northeastern small colleges and Ivies. Tons of finance bros come down into college sports country and start wearing it all with pride/braggadocio. And frankly that’s fine!
