If it’s purely cosmetic and just a way to burn off low-level resources once you’ve already purchased all the unlockables and upgrades, that’s fine (and a smart way for the game to manage that), I just won’t bother focusing on it.

I know CR is going for "authenticity," but they're also a multi-million dollar entertainment operation. At this point, the unedited livestream vibe is a deliberate affectation. And, at least for me, when combined with the huge demand the show asks of your time, it's a barrier to entry.

And I've said this before elsewhere, but CRs pseudo-livestream format makes it even more impenetrable to me. Other shows that came after have vastly improved the actual play viewing/listening experience with post-production. Editing, tightening, insert shots, sound, art, etc.
CR does none of that.

Like, even if I were to listen to CR in podcast form, that's still *such an insane time commitment* every week!
I know a lot of people do, but I don't understand how people can keep up with Critical Role weekly, and also have time to watch or listen to anything else.

Gave the new Critical Role premiere a shot, because I like Brennan, and the fact that it's a new continuity theoretically makes it a good entry point for new viewers, but...
... I just can't get over that show's 4+ hour runtimes, man. Just an absolutely insurmountable hurdle for me.

Jerry is stupid, but he isn't "players will strike over a halftime performer" stupid.
He works very hard to ensure his players don't play in the Super Bowl, thank you very much.

the thing about special forces is:

(a) if the plan only works if 99th percentile guys do it, it is a bad idea.

(b) sometimes you need your 99th percentile guy unexpectedly. if he might be in some random unit, that's helpful. if he's in barracks because JSOC doesn't need him right now, a problem.

Had a dream last night where I accidentally rear-ended an SUV, and when I got out of my car to trade information with the other driver, a kid in the backseat of the SUV shouted at me, with a strong Texas accent, “You made me spill my totchos!”

I was really moved by it in a way few films have done, it was funny and inventive and surprising, it really did make me think about the role of optimism and hope and joy in the face of bewildering and terrible truth, but also, okay we get it, dildos.
