A tip of the hat to the ethologist and humanitarian Dr. Jane Goodall. The world needs more Janes.
Dr. Jane made an indelible mark on our understanding of chimpanzees and other species, and also of humankind and the environments we all share.

She inspired curiosity, hope, and compassion in countless people, and paved the way for many others.

Mathematicians are all the same. They look the same. They only like other mathematicians. They only like maths. They did nothing but maths from the age of two.

Great article on chirality (i.e. handedness). This is a concept that you really have to sit down with a cup of tea and wrap you head around… before you go and write your elementary particles test :)
Everything is not the same through the looking glass. The behavior of many familiar objects, from molecules to elementary particles, depends on which mirror-image version we interact with.

From living matter to molecules to elementary particles, the world is made of “chiral” objects that differ from their reflected forms.

A very good commentary by Andrew Chang, CBC of the US Administration’s reciprocal tariffs and the rationale used to calculate them for each country, including the Heard and McDonald Islands and its carefree inhabitants.

The Government of Canada issued a 5 year $3.5B USD global bond on March 11th. Proceeds from this highly demanded bond will strengthen the Exchange Fund Account and support the Canadian Government's pledge that liquid foreign reserves be greater than or equal to 3% of Nominal GDP.

This is a fantastic discussion with Jessica Riedl @jessicabriedl.bsky.social that recently aired on the Freakonomics podcast. It is very informative and worth listening to. Enjoy!
I had a fun interview on the Freakonomics podcast discussing conservative tax myths, liberal tax myths, deficit reduction, and whether my long Washington DC career as a deficit hawk has been a miserable failure. Transcript and audio recording below.
