I will say though I just read the grading rubric and it’s not really crisp in terms of how/what to cite. I’d need to see a syllabus for general guidelines.

There is absolutely no correlation between inflation (shown here via consumer price index) and red/blue states. Unfortunately CPI data is measured by region for a lot of states otherwise I'd find the r-squared correlation.
