“Must the citizen ever for a moment, or in the least degree, resign his conscience to the legislator? Why has every man a conscience then? I think that we should be men first, and subjects afterward. It is not desirable to cultivate a respect for the law, so much as for the right.” - Thoreau

I believe in the dignity and sanctity of life. Which has hard implications on where I think my taxes should go and who it should help.

I’m not saying taxation is theft per se. But also it’s not given freely nor put toward any worthwhile causes that help anybody but the rich. So. Maybe a little

“Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Matthew 24:12-13

The road is long and the end is not in sight. Lawlessness pushes us into shock and apathy. It sends us into self protection. Love for others must prevail.

Hundreds of asylum seekers from around the globe are being trapped by the US in a Panama hotel where they'll eventually be sent to a camp in the jungle.

One Chinese man said “I thought: America is a free country with respect for human rights. I had no idea it was like a dictatorship.”

I was saying to a friend yesterday that if someone claims Christianity & they are behaving in wicked ways it is our duty to rebuke them. Cut out the cancer lest the whole organism perishes. Always rebuke cruelty, but doubly so if paired with faith.
Calling out cruel things that a president says & does is not partisan. It's calling out cruelty for what it is, and it's our Christian obligation to do so. #kaitlynschiess 🎙️Holy Post 656

To be wicked is in itself a damnable offense. To be wicked in God’s name fills my heart with dread & ties my stomach in knots on behalf of those committing & supporting it.

They turn a message of hope & restoration into a practice of death & cruelty.

Oppose what is wicked & hold fast to the good

“What matters is being focused on what one still has and what can be done—and that is still a great deal—and on restraining within oneself the rising thoughts about what one cannot do and the inner restlessness and resentment about the entire situation.”

Good morning.

It’s easy to be worried, angry, or afraid.

Perfect love casts out fear. While we all need a hand up when we are assaulted by internal turmoil, part of the relief is stepping into small acts of loving others.

Thank you to those here who take on being an encouragement to others.

The biblical passage that begins with the command to not be conformed to the world but be transformed by a renewed mind tells us to not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.

To combat shock and awe, we must also overwhelm those around us with relentless goodness, kindness.

The summer of 99 I was at camp when I felt called to go to seminary and pursue ministry. This was the theme song for that week. With a copy of Jesus Freaks under my arm, I’ve been told the whole time to resist unto death & revolutionize. Is it not what they wanted?

I had someone with a Latin American immigrant background, from a country that is a villainized nation, say that capitalism is natural because it is survival of the fittest.

“There are predators in nature that devour and yet everything in nature is doing ok.”
