Shocked to hear the tragic news that Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead this morning. Rob, as I'm sure we all know, directed many cherished films, even crossing over to horror in Misery. Michele was a producer and actress who worked many times with Rob's films.

Bon anniversaire to the genius that was Georges Méliès (1861 - 1938), arguably the father of the cinematic experience.

Can I just offer my apologies for the lack of updates recently? This has been due to me having surgery, then followed by the cold from hell, then followed by a serious dose of food poisoning I'm still trying to recover from!

The sample issue is on its way, just a slight delay. Thanks, Tom

Today we celebrate the birth of Bram Stoker, born 8 November 1847 and who gave us novels, such as The Lair of the White Worm, The Jewel of Seven Stars and, of course, Dracula

Three very serious books on the matter of #ghosts and the #supernatural, first editions all. From left, 'Apparitions & Haunted Houses' by Sir Ernest Bennett (1939); 'Haunted Houses' by Camille Flammarion (1924); and 'The Mystery And Lore Of Apparitions' by C J S Thompson (1930).

Happy birthday to Carrie Fisher, born #onthisday 21 Oct 1956, who played Bianca Burnette in Scream 3 and Mrs Crenshaw in Sorority Row.

However, she is fondly remembered as a public speaker, author and Princess Leia to millions around the world.

Happy birthday to Bela Lugosi, #onthisday 20 Oct 1882, star of Dracula. Alongside his film career, he also acted on stage, performing Shakespeare. However, it is for Dracula that he is most famously remembered.

Happy birthday to Carla Laemmle, born #onthisday, 20 Oct 1920. Niece of Universal Studios founder Carl Laemmle, she made uncredited appearances in Dracula and had the first spoken line of dialogue and The Phantom of the Opera.

I've just discovered (albeit late) this rather lovely hardback #GraphicNovel of Dracula, published by Legendary Comics, starring Bela Lugosi.

It looks fantastic and is a wonderful homage to both the novel and the actor who became synonymous with the characterisation of the role.

Why Real Biblical Angels Are Creepy, Beastly, and Hardly Angelic
Nearly 70 percent of Americans believe in angels, at least according to a statistic often cited in recent years. But what, exactly, comes to their minds — or those of any other believers around the wo...

Day 5 of our #Halloween #horror Countdown is the TIGON release, The Blood Beast Terror.

Recognised this from the opening scene, apparently set in Africa, which remarkably resembles parts of Norfolk.

Basically, it’s a big moth.

Peter Cushing is in it, so all is not lost!

Day 4 of our #Halloween #horror Countdown is the TIGON release, Doomwatch.

“The waters surrounding an island become contaminated by chemical dumping, and people who eat fish caught in those waters become deformed and violent.”

More sci-fi than horror. The acting was horrible, so I guess it fits!

Day three, and our #Halloween #Horror 'masterpiece' is 1970s, Scream and Scream Again.

A man wakes up in hospital with his legs amputated. There's a serial killer, a fascist secret army; none of it makes sense. Mad scientist Vincent Price creates murderous superhumans. I fell asleep before the end.

Today's #Halloween #Horror 'masterpiece' is the 1960 City of the Dead, aka Horror Hotel.

A student goes to research witchcraft in a small town. The hotel is run by a reincarnated witch, trying to achieve immortality.

The 'heroes' arrive for the climax, which involves a big crucifix. Everyone dies.

It's October 1st, and our #Halloween #horror countdown.

Today is the 1974 'masterpiece', The Beast Must Die.

Eight people are invited to an island by a millionaire, who thinks one of them is a werewolf and wants to hunt it. So, he chases it in a helicopter, trying to shoot it with a machine gun.

Betty Boop Meets Dracula (1933)

This wonderful live-action short, starring Mae Questel sings to wax figures, while the Dracula figure, portrayed by Bela Lugosi, comes to life to stalk our Miss Boop!

"You've Booped your last Boop!!"

Fantastic!
