It was never about the children. It was never about explicit material, bullying or social pressure. Do you think that age restrictions on legitimate platforms will get rid of NSFW content on illegal websites? That real ID would stop trolls? That social pressure would just magically stop?

Imagine a future where your face is being used to train AI race-profiling algorithms. Where your real ID, address and phone number is free game for anyone with a backdoor or a bribe. Where the basic guarantees of SAFETY, PRIVACY and ANONYMITY are broken. This is the future we are headed towards.

Imagine a future where your face is being used to train AI race-profiling algorithms. Where your real ID, address and phone number is free game for anyone with a backdoor or a bribe. Where the basic guarantees of SAFETY, PRIVACY and ANONYMITY are broken. This is the future we are headed towards.
Real ID verification OR AI face-recognition is disgusting, it’s not so much about “protection” as it is about control and surveillance. Modern social media is a powerful tool for dissent and they’re scrapping that tool. With their example, more countries will follow. Fight authoritarianism!

No ID verification program, no matter how thorough, is going to stop the bots and trolls. What it can do is give your boss, government or ex a backdoor to your entire life. Don't feed the machine with pieces of yourself, kill it with fire and laws that say no to data harvesting and profiling.

Take your digital privacy seriously, switch off "improve x service for all!", use a VPN, different passwords and usernames across accounts, never a real photo, if asked for an ID, use a fake one or one from the internet. It's not a crime, it's pushing back against mass surveillance.

It is honestly so annoying to see some of my (rich) classmates with ChatGPT subscriptions use it like a search engine, I mean, you’re typing, why not type into something less environmentally destructive? Some people just like their information spoon-fed.

A tip for anyone whose redirected browser sign-ins for apps (such as unity) keep getting rerouted to .cn and asking for your fucking phone number: quickly change the .cn to .com. That’s it. It worked for me.

Yay! Just got my individual submission rejected by the IMC! They told me it was because my paper “couldn’t be grouped into a theme”… wonder whether they meant it and my paper’s fine or they were just being polite and my paper was shit in the first place.

I’ve always been confused about how alt-right people seem to love long, convoluted sentences. I’ve seen left-wing people use lots of slang, but I’ve never read a sentence as long as a paragraph from them. For example Trump, his tweets are basically rant-like sentences dotted with ALL CAPS.
