I mean, I know lots of bright people who've gotten great educations at Ivies, but the same is true of state schools & other less prestigious but just as rigorous institutions. & there's definitely a culture of legacy admits & other well-off kids who get into fancy schools & coast through w/o effort.

The funny thing is that to the extent this has_any_relevance to readers, it's bc it undermines the reverence for elites that props up institutions like the NYT. Psst, don't give away that a lot of people w/ Ivy League degrees coasted through learning very little except how to use their privilege!

Yep. I've been following the line of thinking that doomerism of the "we are now under his authoritarian thumb! Woe is us!" type just grants them more of the power they're trying to claim for themselves. I mean, things are dire for sure, but they are handing us a lot of wins just by being idiots.

I see it, but...I don't hear it. I've only heard 2-3 cuts from this album & have no skin in this game, but it strikes me (& has since the last record) that she is too prolific & needs to chill. It would be both restorative & a good career move to take some time, get married, touch songwriting grass.
