These are literally how 90% of middle schoolers get to school in my neighborhood.

My 15 year old daughter, a Swift fan but not, she insists, a Swiftie, said the new album sounds like it was made to be played in Target while people are shopping.

And...tuition isn't always (or usually, or most of the time) raised bc higher ed is "greedy." Imstitutions deal with inflation like everyone else; raising tuition in line with inflation helps keep schools in the black. Many public are limited by state statute already.

The BOG is becoming increasingly skeptical about NCF and know DeSantis is on his way out. If they go pvt I'd be surprised if they last 5 more years. I can see UF or FSU taking it over as a satellite campus (something in the works for years behind the scenes before this nonsense)

We are approaching a situation where working or enrolling in public higher ed means that the state wields inordinate power to control your speech and impose partisan rules on your conduct. What do we do when higher ed is a special site of state oppression?

For some of us in Red states thos is already our reality. To see it being speedrun at the national level via ED and the federal govt is terrifying.

We collectively mistook the means of delivery for human communication for the connection itself. Soon, we will pay the price for that

The fact that this article on soy causing deforestation doesn't cover how all that soy is being used is a wild media failure. The vast majority (70-80%) is being fed to animals.

It's not the "world's taste for soya" it's the world's taste for meat.

Here's something you learn in business school- data is not information. Learning a fact, *by itself*, does not make you any wiser. You must understand the context around the fact as well- how it fits into other facts, what it implies about the past, present, and future.

20 million people live in LA? That's over twice the total population of LA County. Where are they getting these numbers? Even a high school student has to site their sources but SCOTUS can just pull numbers from the air for a binding legal document?

Yes. Performance Based Funding has been (IMO) terrible for what universities are supposed to be. It's the tail wagging the dog that's given people and organizations who were already hostile to education a cudgel to wield against it, legally.
