One of our cats is usually a bit of a recluse but since I have been unwell she has hardly left my side. Even if sometimes she is a bit tired ...

So, @fatchair.bsky.social spends a lot of the time we are watching anything set in the past shouting at the TV about them using fonts created years later. Anyone know if TV producers want a typographic adviser? It would be a very good use of his typography skills and knowledge...

Think I will be heading to the hospital in a bit as the pain from my abcess is so bad even codeine hasn't touched the sides of it.

We have welcomed our 3rd and 4th organisations into Empower this week - it is lovely seeing people joining, signing up for things and connecting. If you are part of an organisation thinking of joining our 50% Founding Rates end on 31st December 2025 so get in touch and join now.

Currently they are processing Access to Work for Self-employed from 26th June 2024. Yep. Although they definitely told me they were doing ones from July 2024 a few months ago so not entirely sure I believe them.

On hold to Access to Work. It has been 14 months since I first applied and nothing. The hold message includes a bit where it sound like they might answered so it is really hard to do anything else in case they have answered. My ADHD brain does not like this.

We hear so often about kindness on public transport, like this lovely example from @sunflowerinrain.

“London: trying the buses instead of taxis between train stations. Bus packed, #wheelchair space full of standing passengers. They leapt off, loaded me in, and re-packed around me with ‘Which […]

This article manages to name her husband before it names… her.
Article reads:
Woman named as Archbishop of Canterbury in historic first

The 63-year-old archbishop-designate is married to Eamonn Mullally, with whom she has two children. Originally from Woking in Surrey, she was the UK's chief nursing officer from 1999 to 2004.

Apparently UK supermarkets aren’t labelling food (like mango and watermelon) with its country of origin…if that country of origin is Israel.

Under EU law, country of origin must be stated…but the UK isn’t in the EU anymore.

Anyway, if the first 3 digits on the barcode are 729, it’s Israeli.

Yesterday I was in a lot of pain after my hospital visit on Monday. This gorgeous cat watched over me all day. She normally disappears upstairs but yesterday did not leave my side.

Yesterday we had another wonderful community call in Empower. This is one of the things that sets it apart and was core to my vision - librarians from UK and US talking about all sorts of things and connecting. Imagine what it will be like once we get more people on board!

Without a librarian it's just a book storage area, not a library

We agree but add this: the #GreatSchoolLibraries campaign highlights that all children need a school library because adequately funded, staffed school libraries deliver enhanced & independent learning as well as reading & curriculum support & contribute to building lifelong readers. #Staffed

Z woke me up at 5 and I was a bit annoyed until I remembered I went to bed at 9:30 so 7.5 hours sleep isn't bad but I definitely could have slept longer.
