Yes, that is true. For the last job the coding exercise was a takeaway one, with the live part being quite simple, and just to prove I could actually do stuff myself. These days, who needs to think for themselves..?

Indeed, that will certainly become more of a problem - although live coding tests have been things for a while now (I kinda did some when last looking for work 8 years ago). Current interview says you can use AI, but at least have to explain what’s produced. I’ll not be using it at all…

One of my least favourite things about looking for a new job is the prospect of doing live coding interviews. "Can you please write some code whilst we watch?" I became a software developer so I wouldn't have to deal with people - I can barely type my own name if someone's watching!

Age of the Primes Quintus Prime in robot and alt modes. The robot mode has a humanoid upper half, but below the waist it is a seething mass of tentacles, arranged kind of like a skirt or a jellyfish all at once. The alt mode is kind of like a submarine, I guess, with the tentacles facing out along the rear, presumably as some sort of propulsion mechanism.

Oh yeah. I know that people like to complain about the multiple endings, but you've just sat through 12 hours' worth of stuff with these characters, you need that closure. The Michael Bay ending (Sauron falls, Aragorn kisses Arwen, cut to the US flag, cue Linkin Park) would not have worked...

When I saw these at the cinema in the summer I was amazed - and plesantly surprised - to find that I wasn't the only one sobbing during this scene. Pretty much the entire theatre was broken from this point onwards...

I guess the one thing I can say is that if the run times are daunting, it doesn't matter so much if you're watching at home - because unlike at the cinema you can pause whenever you need a break. In which case, just take the plunge with the Extended versions.

Oh crikey, I'm not the right person to ask either - I'd read all the books before seeing the films at the cinema. But I mean both are good. The Extended versions have a more complete version of the story, but the Theatrical work just as well - they were designed to be so.

I know it's funny to show how useless GenAI is, but even using it to do that is environmentally unsound and pumps up their usage numbers. People need to start thinking of AI as litter. Maybe the thing you toss on the ground isn't much, but when a lot of people think that way it makes a giant mess.
