When Julian became part of the main arc, and it started to splinter into multiple universes, I knew First Titus was going to be part of that. Then I created him, and, honestly, he's the reason I started writing more of the first lives. I wanted to understand the choices he made.

Today's going to be a Seth and Sebastian day. I always knew there would be a series of alternate universes where Anne and Titus had children. As Titus was a twin they'd be twins. Seth is the elder of the two, and the one angriest at their father in most of them.

The reason for everything is Anne. This has been explored a little more in the story (albeit the SimsLit part), which makes this less spoilery than it was, although there are those of you who may not have read that part. I do have a lore post.

There was always a reason for the ritual. From the beginning that was the focus, but I didn't understand why it existed exactly, although I knew Gregor Tyrell 'attempted' it. Having the Fitzgeralds involved was a necessity, due to numbers, and then everything started coming together.

For me, personally, Titus is fascinating, due to the choices he's made. The more I write about him the more I want to write. Hence it more becoming his story, although I love Anne too. There will be more about her coming in the near future. Yet the first chapter was Dante's.

I love things like this, especially the engagement received, because I really felt that difference in November. Not too sure what happened there, as I was still posting consistently.

"Mother..."
"There's a reason for your choice. I know a sacrifice is necessary for the ritual to work, but I saw you when Victor first knocked on the door. You know I'm not a fool."
"No, you aren't, and I wish it hadn't been them, but someone with new magic was always going to knock on the door."

Marion raised an eyebrow. "I hope you're right."
"Anne always connected more with our parents through the lifetimes."
"You kept your distance, the way you did when you were younger."
"For me it's easier, because something I have to make hard choices, for her."
"Like with the Fitzgeralds?"
November 7, 2025 at 7:45 PM
"Gentle?"
"Regaining her memories hasn't been easy, and it's not just one life, Mother. We've been together a long time."
"How did you still have them if she didn't?"
"I needed to protect her. Now we're days away from the ritual she they're necessary." Titus studied Marion. "She's still your Anne."
November 7, 2025 at 7:30 PM
"Will Anne?"
"Possibly. It's her decision to make." Titus shrugged. "She might not even tell you about her memories returning, and if she doesn't then it would probably be best not to bring it up."
"You're asking me to lie to my daughter?"
"No, I'm asking you to be gentle with her."
November 7, 2025 at 7:15 PM
"She does now."
"How?"
"The ritual, because it was the last time we saw each other." With a sigh, looking down for a second, Titus shook his head. "It's not a story I want to tell."
"You know I'd be willing to listen."
"Of course I do, but... honestly, I know all about mistakes."
November 7, 2025 at 7:01 PM
"Even now I still feel it."
Looking a little closer than before, able to see the scar her choice left, Titus nodded. "That's normal, Mother."
"Mother again?"
"What would you prefer? In this life you are my mother. Anne cares deeply about you, and that's not going to change."
"Does she remember?"
November 7, 2025 at 6:45 PM
"If I asked you to?"
"Then I'd do it."
"How much danger are we in?"
"None, Marion. You're Lockwoods." All Titus could do was hope Marion didn't hear the lies the way Anne would have done. Then he always had to be more careful. "Gregor didn't know what he was doing. You made the right choice."
November 7, 2025 at 6:30 PM
"Prove it. Explain this to me." Marion gestured at the floor. "Where did Father learn about it to begin with, Titus?"
"From a journal no one should ever have found, and I don't know how he did. I could look into the past to see, but there was no reason for me to, because I can't change it."
November 7, 2025 at 6:15 PM
"I'm sorry."
"Are you?" Marion looked down. "None of us matter to you, do we?"
"Hurting people isn't something I enjoy, Marion, but I made a promise a very long time ago that led me down a path I didn't understand was inevitable at the time. Those are words I truly mean. I am sorry."
November 7, 2025 at 6:03 PM
"For you to make a different choice."
"Not going to happen, because this isn't about you. It never has been." Titus regained control of his anger. "My focus is Anne."
"So Isaac was right?"
"You didn't want him to be, did you?"
Marion bit down on her bottom lip. "You're my son, Titus."
November 7, 2025 at 5:45 PM
"Now?"
Marion sighed. "I don't love him. He knows that. Thaddeus loves me. Sometimes I feel guilty he chose me when I'm probably never going to feel the same way, and immorality, should the ritual work, only makes things more complicated. We all make mistakes, Titus."
"What do you want?"
November 7, 2025 at 5:30 PM
"Titus..."
"A Lockwood to free you from the future Gregor wanted for you, only it didn't work out quite the way you hoped it would."
"My choice doesn't mean I don't care." Fortunately Thaddeus knew that, even if Titus did tell him. "I was young, and, yes, saw Thaddeus as a way out."
November 7, 2025 at 5:15 PM
"Don't talk about Thaddeus that way."
"Pretending you care about him, Mother?"
"I do care." Marion glared at Titus, and he felt his own anger spike. "You have no right to judge my choices."
"Oh, I have every right, because I know why you chose Father in the first place. He doesn't."
November 7, 2025 at 5:03 PM
"Probably not, because, if I am right, I'm not certain you will truly be honest with me." Marion studied her son, seeing more than she had before. "I know you haven't been with your father."
"Yes, well, he never stopped to think for a second about why I was doing this, and he doesn't care."
November 7, 2025 at 4:45 PM
"You don't care, do you?"
Titus cared, but more because he needed Thaddeus with him, and that wouldn't happen if Marion walked away. "How about I be honest with you? Will that help?"
Silence followed his questions, as Marion stared at him. Accepting the offer wouldn't be easy for her.
November 7, 2025 at 4:31 PM
"Playing with this kind of magic is very foolish, Titus."
A smile touched his lips, which only strengthened Marion's anger. "I know what I'm doing."
"That might have been how you convinced your father to go along with this, but it's not going to be that easy with me."
"Of course it's not."
November 7, 2025 at 4:15 PM
When Marion didn't walk out the basement Titus knew she wasn't going to. He made his way down the stairs, and stepped through the door to join her. From the tension in her back she knew he was there.
"Mother."
At first she didn't say anything, still focused on the circle, but then she turned.
November 7, 2025 at 4:05 PM
If she left before Titus even knew she was there it might be better, but Marion found herself stepping forward, arms crossing as she looked down at the circle, wondering if destroying it might stop her husband and son. Only it wouldn't take long to replace. Titus knew what he was doing. Somehow.
