Adding a little more here, without giving away anything: I was ultimately left with more questions than answers and feel like that was the point. But to be honest, that sometimes makes a movie more interesting, not less. At least for me.

There's also his constant demeaning behavior toward women. It's like the air he breathes. He is bothered by women who challenge him. Was true with Hillary, has been true with many women before and since. Dude hates women, been obvious to anyone not committed to excusing everything he does.

"Destroying the concept of truth" is why I am so rabidly opposed to photorealistic generative AI in particular (but neutral on some other uses). I should not have to wonder if a photo or video of some event is real. Yes, manipulation existed before, but it was difficult and thus relatively rare.

Interesting article tho, may use this in the future to explain to people what exactly the admin is doing re: its flood tide of lies. Thanks!

I'm familiar with the strategy, tho I personally know it as "flood the zone with shit." It's definitely critical to understanding how fascist governments operate - the admin doesn't really care if we outright believe its lies, so much as it wants to destroy our capacity to believe in truth.

I'll defer to locals re: conditions on the ground and the reception ICE is receiving, but if it helps at all to know: Austin, MN voted for Harris (tho by a reduced margin than it voted for Biden)

Yeah, like the analogy isn't perfect. And I'll be the first to say that we are from cooked yet. But the orientation of our federal government right now is very similar to Russia's: a cadre of oligarchs and the president they seek to appease, gov't power being nakedly wielded against opposition, etc.

Personally, I think the ICE terror-surge alone is impeachable. If Noem can be impeached for it, no reason Trump can't be. It also crystallizes things nicely: the admin is using immigration enforcement as a pretext to crush dissent, target areas that oppose it politically, and undermine democracy.
