exactly! like this thinking disregards the idea that a song can be you singing a melody and clapping your hands, and arguably that's more of a "legit" song based on human history than some indie pop mp3

the subtext here is that a song isn't real or doesn't "exist" if it's not a fully produced digital commodity :(

Finding your album on a weird corner of soulseek is an infinitely larger badge of honor than getting playlisted on Spotify and you know it.

By this logic, the video that Tr*mp posted of himself with a crown on flying a plane proclaiming him "king" is heretical.

The whole "we have to get ahead of it" argument is the same they used to get majors on board with streaming to combat torrenting, but the only people they're looking out for is their own interests. A much easier/equitable solution is user-centric payouts but hey...I'm just a musician
