“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

What I love about that six word Hemingway story, "For sale: baby shoes, never worn" is that in those few words we instantly grasp the sadness of what it is trying to tell us: the baby was so freakishly massive when it was born that it could never wear the shoes its parents had bought for it.

The dirty little secret is that many podcasts are just (poorly executed) talk shows by another name

I have questions. Firstly, what cut is Spotify keeping when someone buys a book through bookshop.org via its platform? The announcement says this "will directly support bookshops & the authors" but noticeably not that they will pass on 100% from purchases

More proof that music education is so important, because if you don’t give awkward moody white boys guitars and a spiral notebook for lyrics they will become fascists.

Casey Wasserman, founder of Wasserman talent agency, is in the Epstein files. His involvement is extremely clear and damning. Wasserman represents hundreds of the most well-known names in music.

This level of apologia (from Megan McArdle in a podcast with Josh Barro and Ross Douthat) is fucking appalling. Idk what else there is to say.

@wyden.senate.gov's record of warning that there is deep and constitutionally-serious dirt being done by the intelligence agencies in secret is unblemished. The vaguer he is, the filthier the dirt is. This is the vaguest I've ever seen him

For a lot of Greater Boston residents, the rent is too damn high. So some moved to Taunton, this city of 60,000 with a new stop on the commuter rail.

My latest at @bostonglobe.com is looking at how high rental prices in Greater Boston are reverberating across other places in Massachusetts.
Taunton has attracted residents from Greater Boston for lower rents. Now, prices there are soaring. - The Boston Globe
Affordability isn't the only thing attracting new residents to the city, locals say.

This goes for educators making courses/workshops available through Patreon subscriptions as well! We have the means to make our own independent academies and research programs.
whoever figures out a way to bundle independent journalism subscriptions will be a hero
i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.
