Not often do you score a 1972 paperback edition of The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac in a free library but I did today.

Love when a movie shows characters goin to see a movie and it's the director's pal's movie. That happened in Aki Kaurismäki's Fallen Leaves (2023). The main characters go to see Jim Jarmusch's The Dead Don't Die (2019).

Tom Robbins reviewed the 2/12/68 Hendrix homecoming show in Seattle. From Charles Cross’s biography of Hendrix, Room Full of Mirrors. Loads more on the show & booking intrigue: www.historylink.org/file/1365

Cronenberg's A History of Violence was the last major Hollywood release on VHS back in March 2006. It is my holy grail tape to find in a thriftstore. Great flick too, even better graphic novel that is way, way darker too.

OTD 1970 Black Sabbath released their self-titled debut album in the UK (it'd be 4 more months until WB released it in the US). One of the most influential records of all-time. Entire genres and sub-genres have spawned from the notes on this album. RIP Ozzy.
