Looked up an old apt in Baker neighborhood to see what the rent was there over the yrs.

$12 - 1913
$55 - 1922
$75 - 1958
$50 - 1964
$700 - 2001 when I moved in.

The bldg was split up with two bedroom apts on the bottom and 4 one bedroom apts on the top. 79 had a large living room and a study.

Finishing up Mike Miley's David Lynch’s American Dreamscape : Music, Literature, Cinema (2025) when the conclusion hit me kinda hard - he compares Lynch to DFW and Lana Del Rey.

LDR has never really done it for me but he makes an interesting case w/sincerity-in-irony for all 3 artists.

Cloud (2024) dir. Kurosawa (Japan) - Digital capitalism requires caveat emptor and a real top notch assistant.

Misericordia (2024) dir. Guiraudie (France) - You can go home again and have a killer time although there'll be some compromises.
