Moving out of my parents' house on Saturday. It's going to be so weird living on my own but hopefully it all goes well

Wrote about the whys and hows behind the amazing improvements for season 2 of My Dress-Up Darling / Kisekoi. More experienced & bolder directors, better production circumstances, and engagement with more diverse subcultures in a way that reinforces its themes blog.sakugabooru.com/2025/10/08/t...

God I love this show so much. Building on its themes even more, My Dress Up Darling shows how being an adult doesn't mean that you need to give up on your hobbies, even if they appear "childish" to others. There's nothing wrong with putting your all into something you enjoy.

Moving out of my parents' house next month and I haven't been this stressed in a while. Definitely going to be lonely for a while since I'm so used to living with other people

You can always count on Fujimoto to pull the most insane things out of left field but I never expected him to be this explicit in his depiction of America imperialism by the country finding a way to invent nuclear weapons again. My jaw was on the floor

I'm careful not to hyperbolize the status of up-and-coming creators, because the way that staff discourse is driven, too many youngsters who landed fancy, mostly straightforward yet bombastic high-profile anime are burdened with unfair expectations of "legends"

Souta Ueno IS actually that special

Mono was a very interesting show. The production value blew me away, especially since this is from a brand new studio. That being said, it really struggled to keep me engaged in the second half as I realized that they weren't going to focus much at all on photography.

Zohran Mamdani wins the first round of the NYC Democratic mayoral election

Given his lead, we're almost guaranteed to see Mamdani win on the final ballot

Zohran’s results so far just show how tired Americans are of the status quo, how we need creative, people-first campaigning and governance, and why positive, progressive politics are the future.

Hate to get ahead of myself before results are called but I’m so freakin happy right now.

Rereading some of Kaguya-sama and I'm just reminded again how peak this series can be at times. I absolutely love the emphasis on the need to not be scared of showing yourself to your significant other by framing romance as something that requires that from both parties to be genuine

Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 4 might be my favorite episode of the series so far. Literally had everything I wanted from great direction to really amazing writing that helped convey Sakura's struggle throughout the show as he tries to open up to people.

The next few anime seasons are going to be so packed compared to this one. Here's what I'm planning on watching next season.
1. Wind Breaker Season 2
2. How to Become Ordinary Season 2
3. Witch Watch
4. Summer Pockets
5. My Hero Academia Vigilantes
6. Your Forma
7. Lazarus
8. Mono

AnimeJapan Day 1 Stuff:

The Summer Hikaru Died still looks great. Quite fitting but it's a bold choice to commit this unequivocally to an uncomfortable, bleak summer feel. Good friction. Also, Hiraoka in a role all about dripping, unnerving morphing animation is the visual typecast of the decade

About Bocchi S2:

nara is, if anything, a more visually transgressive director than Saito. Bocchi's avantgarde, unconventional sequences were a tool to explore her psyche, be it from a comedic or occasionally more serious angle. But even in a work without that thoughtfulness, nara *would* experiment

I'm hoping that since Keiichirou Saitou isn't the director for Bocchi the Rock Season 2, he's focused entirely on Frieren Season 2. I know that for the first season he ended up coming fully onboard later on in the pre-production process so hopefully he's cooking something amazing at Madhouse

I've gone on about loving Jukki Hanada as a writer, specifically because of how natural he makes his stories feel, but it's always tough to pinpoint exactly what that means. But it's scenes like this, little interactions that mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, that he excels at.

Episode director: Tsuyoshi Tobita
Storyboard: Shoutarou Kitamura
Chief animation director: Tetsuya Kawakami

Half a year is a lot, so it can be easy to forget exactly why you fell in love with something, yet for Makeine, it only took one episode for me to fall in love all over again
