The scary part is that it’s seeping into “normal” folks too, now. Not wholesale, mind you, but on an issue to issue basis people seem more willing than ever to embrace their own cognitive bias

LOL, sweet. No, I don't need anyone to affirm my opinions. I just would like a return to real journalism. I appreciate Rachel's work, but this instance was not a good example of "fact-checking", it's just not. Glad to see our "journos" also engaging in good faith discussion with Cdns!

Dude, you're ostensibly a "journo". You should know that this is not fact-checking. It's kinda embarrassing that our "journos" today can't tell the difference. Say who is lying, or it's not fact-checking.

Tim, this is not fact-checking. What was the meeting about? Was it substantive, or is this just some photo op at an event where other organizations were also present and took photos with Carney? It seems like you're more concerned with him calling out the G&M than the accuracy of the story itself.

OK, but what are the "facts" in this situation? A photo op at some random event posted on an organization's website does not = an "in depth" meeting. Possible this organization is perhaps overplaying it or nah? Fact-checking takes a bit of time, but it's always worth it!

There's not actually THAT much difference between the two of them. You are absolved.
