I appreciated the @tag2025york.bsky.social organisers' accessibility efforts, but was frustrated to see @york.ac.uk's choices around seating in some rooms. The chairs had inbuilt tables and in some cases were attached so you couldn't flip the table away. This creates a barrier for larger people.

This is a shame. An online course at the Centre for Lifelong Learning helped me build my confidence before going back to university. They offer a lot of courses that you can't usually get through Adult Education centres.
Devastated that the Centre for Lifelong Learning @york.ac.uk is being closed after 40 years. What a loss to education in the region. Feel for students and staff. Being a tutor has been joy, doing what universities should be doing by sharing knowledge widely with our communities.

So I think I need to do a sober thread on just how disasterously bad the new trove.scot website is, in comparison to the sites - especially Canmore - that it's replacing.

tl:dr - the new site is not fit for purpose; switching off the old sites on 24 June 2025 is way way way premature.
