UK Covid-19 Inquiry says govt response to the pandemic in March 2020 was "too little, too late"

Imposing lockdown a week earlier could have saved 23,000 lives in England

In 2016 govt knew the NHS couldn't cope with a flu epidemic but had no plan.

What did austerity do?
‘Too little, too late’: damning report condemns UK’s Covid response

Fucking. Hell!
this is all extreme.
I'm especially struck by the demand Columbia put the Middle East, South Asian and African Studies Department under receivership for at least 5 years
The demand letter to Columbia stands out for dictating how to accomplish goals rather than setting them - like ordering discipline to be placed under the Office of the President.

Ah, brexit.

So much constant winning.
Imagine banging the drum on free trade and reindustrialisation?
And finding oneself on the outside of a group of 27 aligned nations within a single market about to spend €800billion on a rearmament programme that will do that for Europe's industrial heartlands and shipyards

‘TRAP’ isn’t unique.

Did You Know?…

1 in 3 Hollywood blockbusters has been at least partially financed by the Department of Defense.

In fact, each year the Pentagon helps make an average of 7 big-budget movies and 90+ smaller film and TV projects that sensationalize war and policing.

Increasing your Water Bills 44% ABOVE inflation in the next 5 years isn't enough for the Water Companies, they have appealed to Ofwat to let them increase them up to 83% ABOVE inflation.

Like if they can get stuffed.
RT if we should nationalise the lot.

Magic Money Tree.

UK govt to hand £130bn to Bank of England to pay stealth subsidy to banks.

Govts gave £895bn QE to speculators, banks profited.

Govt reversing QE, selling bonds at loss, covering
BoE losses from rising interest rates and the unwinding of QE, banks make billions.
Treasury to hand Bank of England £130bn in next five years in stealth subsidy to bankers
As Chancellor looks to public spending cuts, the Treasury is set to give the Bank money that could instead be used to provide grant funding for over half a million social homes

He orchestrated a coup. It failed.

He was a convicted felon.

He rose to power on a wave of divisive propaganda and hateful anti-immigrant rhetoric.

He promised to make things great again.

He threatened to annex his neighbors.

I'm referring, of course, to Adolf Hitler.

Elon Musk didn't get a single vote from anyone, he doesn't have any official position in the Government.

According to the Constitution he should have no power over Government.

The last time the USA had a unelected dictator ruling them, they had a revolution.

UK laws can't prevent billionaires/Musk from funding political parties.

Payments can be routed through UK friends, corporate subsidiaries. Shell companies have been used.

UK profits can be manufactured to make donations.

Total ban is the only effective remedy.

How our democracy has been hijacked by corporations and wealthy elites
The only effective remedy is to ban all private donations, or bribes, to political parties.

history is poorly taught in this country but one thing i vividly remember learning is that nazi propaganda was the answer to ‘how did people let all that evil happen?’
After having dinner with Trump at Mar-a-Lago and donating $1 million to his inauguration, Mark Zuckerberg announces that META will “get rid of fact checkers,” adopt Elon Musk’s “community notes” policy, move its content moderation team from California to Texas, and work closely with Trump.

Nothing says legitimate organic Right Wing uprising in the UK like a meaningless petition that gets retweeted by a foreign billionaire with 200 million followers on the platform he controls.

But wait til you hear where the signatures are coming from!

Foreign Billionaire tweets about a pointless UK petition to his 200 million followers, twice in 3 hours and the Right Wing get super excited that the signups are an organic show the “will of the people”🙄

Now imagine the scale of disinformation we'll see in 4.5 years time...

If we want to avoid a Trump 2.0 situation in the UK we need safeguard information, and a fair voting system that locks fanatical populism out of total power.

Nothing to do with corporate welfare, contracts for cronies, Govt paying higher energy bills, HMRC not collecting £500bn since 2010, Tory legacy.

Just blame workers wanting decent pay.
