I agree with this, with the caveat that Romero’s films— which assert that, even in the face of armageddon, reactionary capitalism will find a way to cling to wormy power— have only become more essential.

in retrospect i think the "zombie" tv/movie craze that encouraged everyone to fantasize about how theyd murk all their neighbors, hole up in their house and eventually run into the woods , was a mistake

One of the most quietly insidious moves the tech industry has made is tying the act of checking the time, a basic human need we do countless times a day, to your phone. How many times have you checked the time, ended up scrolling for 10 minutes, and then realized you still don’t know the time!
