If I can be sued for setting up a book club for gay men that includes trans men then that would seem to violate my freedom of association? Not a lawyer but if I am not free to form an association with people I want to associate with that seems to infringe my rights to freedom of association a lot

Functionally allows transphobes to use legal proceedings to continue targeted harassing behaviour, and judges let their courtrooms be used for this out of "neutrality".

I feel like the changes to the equal treatment bench book were really extreme and functionally result in trans people having an extremely unequal access to justice. In any case about transphobia the judge is likely (like this one) to both permit misgendering and themselves degender the trans person.

Did either of the parties think this was relevant enough to submit evidence on it? It basically seems like judge assumed Dr Upton would automatically submit medical records to the court without being asked

Real failure to consider how permitting this makes any participation in a legal case degrading for trans people. It's not equal treatment, cis people are being referred to in the way they prefer and trans people are not.

At the point of formal complaint they should have ensured that the situation being complained about wasn't reoccurring until the complaint was resolved.
