Ah okay that tracks, the rules here are bizarre and complicated Like deception re impersonation being illegal only if you personally know the person they're pretending to be
Excellent critiques of fws by legal people, feeling genuinely hearted to see so many different people willing to put their name to critiques of the ruling journals.kent.ac.uk/index.php/fe...
hahaha “there is something quite surprising, and quite jarring, about the way in which this judicial language seeks to diminish the significance of a legal document”
Hahaha yeah no transphobic feminism includes no trans people of any kind. It's a feminism of women who consider themselves "normal" and see "rights" as a thing that can be withdrawn from the "abnormal" to teach us a lesson. Sometimes they claim to support us but it's always a lie.
Tendancy to overplay the suicide evidence is an unfortunate consequence of arguing with cis parents who would rather have a miserable "cis" child than a happy trans one, as long as the kid doesn't actually die
Someone trying to argue that a child with bad mental health, who feels suicidal and attempts suicide, is not at higher risk of suicide than a child with good mental health who isn't suicidal shouldn't be taken seriously. And being distressed to the point of attempting suicide is a harm on its own.
Yeah there's good evidence that it improves mental health in general, improves self reported suicidal feelings, and even reduces attempts. But completed suicide is thankfully rare enough it's hard to measure on its own.
Attempts at an RCT collapsed because parents refused to have their kids in the control group, as it would mean having their kids go through puberty alarmingly early. So it's in a pretty similar place to the base for trans kids
significantly more disturbed by the British museum arguing goats can consent to sex than by depictions of non consensual goat fucking. is it an intelligent goat? Normal animal? Whole can of worms we're opening here, is this something the museum wants to commit to a take on?
You are the king of your domain and can't just wander round the market like a normal person without the commoners trying to petition you on several dozen issues. This is the price of being in charge of things
I think what people replying to this are missing is that Dean Street is home to both a gender clinic and a sexual health clinic. I've been to both many times over the years, they're a vital lifeline for many people.
Cis men don't want to pretend to be trans women. This isn't a real problem. Services can draw a line where they want and exclude certain people if they need to. The women who actually use the pond are fine with the current policy
Plenty of places have and do run facilities on a trans inclusive basis that isn't "open to all". This isn't some weird hypothetical it's how the majority of facilities have run for 15 years
It's all very well to go "just use the women's" but I will be challenged and confronted and stared at if I do, and would have to bring ID, deedpoll and birth certificate to prove I was allowed to. Which is not equal access! It is degrading and discriminatory.
The rights in this case are necessary to ensure trans people have equal access compared to cis people. If I can't use the men's pool I am comparatively restricted in access because I can only use the mixed pool. If changing rooms are "single sex" and I can't use the mens' I can't go at all.
Plenty of places have run trans inclusive policies without issues, in practice people don't usually randomly decide to use the other pool, and anyone behaving inappropriately can be kicked out for their behaviour
