Encouraging people to “be entrepreneurs” and negotiate their own health insurance with a multi-billion-dollar for-profit industry is like telling someone to take their Costco membership fee and go negotiate directly with food manufacturers.

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

Social approbation MATTERS to people. That means that if you publicly deride people, they will HATE it.

Look at how elites have lost their shit because regular people on social media clowned them and did not bow down to their 'supreme amazingness'.

The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

Dear media and OMG, lawmakers: Stop using ‘illegal immigrant.’

It’s inaccurate, dehumanizing, and lazy.

People aren’t illegal.

Crossing a border without papers doesn’t erase your humanity.

Let’s call them what they are: undocumented immigrants.

Language shapes perception.

Let’s get it right!

Japan Post has ceased all mail delivery to the US for packages valued over $100. To get around this, a Japanese denim company tells me they'll ship components to US customers one-by-one — fabric, buttons, rivets, a sewing needle, and thread. You then assemble the jeans at home like IKEA furniture.

By now most people know there is a bee population crisis and want to help by keeping bees. The beekeeper told me a much easier way to help bees is by planting flowers.

Wages of unionized workers are 13% higher than their nonunion counterparts.

But unions also set a higher pay standard that all workers enjoy.

In high-union-density states, median household income is $12,000 higher than in low-union-density states.

This is why unions are vital.

It’s important to understand what a state-funded classroom looks like versus a teacher-funded classroom. Your beef is with the state, not the teacher.
