Hi all, my name is Kevin Williams, and my lab studies brain pathways and cellular mechanisms that regulate feeding, body weight, and blood glucose control, aiming to inspire new therapies for obesity and diabetes. I'm also a co-host of DiabetesBio, available on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

Nothing like good steak with great friends. Perfect lead-in to learning about GLP-1 and thirst!

Big thanks to Dr. Derek Daniels (@docderek.bsky.social) for an outstanding talk today!

Fascinating talk on the brain circuits of thirst...Eye-opening to see GLP-1’s role beyond feeding.

We are proud of Omprakash Singh's new study just out in Cell Reports. Supported by Sepideh Sheybani-Deloui et al, Om's work identifies GHSR expressing SCN neurons as regulating food intake + feed efficiency at a single time of day, accounting for at least 7% of a mouse's BW

Love this!

Normalizing stress, anxiety, imposter syndrome, stage fright, etc. is so important. Even the best speakers and performers still get nerves….the only way forward is to keep doing it and practice, practice, practice!

Terrible selfie, but (hopefully) interesting science. We found that making diet tracking easier - using Ai assisted photo recognition apps - resulted in improved adherence and diet quality (more fibre, more fruit and veg). Come check it out #ssib2025

I can’t be at #ssib2025 this year but the amazing Rosanne and L are there to present their data on the impact of maternal obesity/GDM on offspring hypothalamic development, and what metformin use in pregnancy does to the fetal brain.
